Curious if these moves make sense

Slow, I mean sloooow slooooow. Unnoticeable, too expensive for what he offers, etc. Taking up ice time from kids who need the experience while the Blues retool.

Blues would be on the phone with registry before you had a second to change your mind.

Army Plan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>That makes sense, what doesn't is paying a first for a goalie. Binnington would get just as lit up as Lyon and Husso did. Defense and defensive play need to be addressed first. Depending on a few things, that pick might be another lottery pick next season. We aren't in at a place in our rebuild where it makes sense to be spending firsts on players yet. Few more years still for that.</div></div>
Sounds like DET has the same issues as the Blues :tearsofjoy . Binner is arguably the reason STL isn't picking in the top-10 this year.

Army Plan pt 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>P_Turgeon</b></div><div>I'm of the opinion that trading Binnington in any fashion would mean a complete tear down of the team. He steals games often. Husso hasn't been great in Detroit and that first would potentially be a very late 1st if Binny is there.</div></div>
I get it and I highly doubt he's moved this year. I'd be shocked. I thought it might be a fit with DET and Husso could "pinch hit" during the retool until Hofer is ready for 50+ games a year.

I figured as much and that's why I thought Binnington might be a fit in DET if the Blues were to part (extremely unlikely). The timeline of his contract expiring and Cossa getting reps and taking over as #1 seem to go hand-in-hand.

What's the anticipated timeline on Cossa? I've heard he's been great this year.

Decent start on the Blues trade. Change the 1st to MTL's 2024 1st and the Blues begin to warm up to the idea.

More-so an experiment than pure cap dump. We need center depth, he's young and would fit their window, and if it didn't work out the worst-case scenario would be a cheap buyout that likely wouldn't happen at least for a few more years considering the cap flexibility they'll likely have.

More ReTool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>If our direction is to be worse next season than this I don't dislike any of the moves aside from the Leddy to Pittsburgh move.
However, as exciting as it is picking 10th vs 16th, I don't think it makes all too much of a difference once you look 5 years down the road. Don't get me wrong I would love for the Blues to trade up, but I don't think we're at the point where we can trade Binnington and not crumble. We may not make playoffs again next year, but after this year you have to expect the expectation would be to do so from the front office and from the players alone. Culture and belief in being able to win isn't something that's really too popular on here because you can't quantify it and compare. But I'd venture to guess if we made 2 or 3 moves to sell off pieces and finished towards the bottom of the league next year it would be crippling to the young core that we're building right now.</div></div>
Well said. Couldn't agree more.

blues clues

Outlet passes are good, decision making is good, can play on his off side pretty well. Hence why we're not tossing him in. Any value difference is covered between Kyrou and Zegras is covered by Z being younger, cheaper, and able to play center.</div></div>
What would you say the acquisition cost for LaCombe is then, assuming he were on the market?

Granted, it's probably too late to do these flips people like to talk about. But that could very easily equate out to a massive haul and would have no long term committment to retention beyond this year. I don't see a real downside here especially since NJD isn't a guarantee to make the playoffs.</div></div>

This is just an idea if the Isles don't rebound and decide to sell. Very unlikely but thought the value for both sides might be adequate.
