Straight up might work, but we're not "tossing in" LaCombe

blues don’t do it straight up

Not after Zegras’s awful year this year, however I do think he’ll bounce back

Also what’s the rundown on Lacombe? Compared to your other D prospects

You can make a reasonable argument that Kyrou is an upgrade over Zegras and I'll assume for purposes of discussion that he is . . . as the Anaheim GM, I wouldn't make that incremental upgrade at the expense of losing a promising young defenseman; if I'm dealing Jackson LaCombe, it's to acquire a similar asset at RhD or RW.

To put it another way, the difference between our current bottom-5 status and playoff contention is more than the difference between Trevor Zegras and Jordan Kyrou. A lot more.

He's going to be a fine all around top 4 D, his offensive ceiling that was there in College isn't, but he's becoming outright good at defense and he's an above average skater. Outlet passes are good, decision making is good, can play on his off side pretty well. Hence why we're not tossing him in. Any value difference is covered between Kyrou and Zegras is covered by Z being younger, cheaper, and able to play center.

Then I imagine the blues just keep Kyrou and if they go for Zegras they’d use there first

What would you say the acquisition cost for LaCombe is then, assuming he were on the market?

Zegra would be ran out of town in St. Louis in 1 month. Look at the hate Kyrou gets and he is tons better than Zegras

That wouldn’t entice ANA to be honest. We don’t lack for draft capital. We lack for offense, RHD, and creativity. Zegras provides 2 of those things very nicely. He’s not on the outs, he’s loved here. A mid first isn’t a starting piece to be able to talk Zegras

Tell me you don’t watch ANA without telling me you don’t watch ANA

Btw I don’t blame you one bit for keeping us off your TV. Veeeery difficult team to watch in recent years

He's had mixed feedback here. He's had a difficult time getting going, and his lack of foot speed is obvious when Carlson is leaving him in the dust.

We knew he was never going to live up to that contract, we overpaid for intangibles, but at this point, he needs to bring a LOT of intangibles to the table to justify his play.

Wouldn't be a trade for picks or a package of lesser assets, hockey trade for a young middle 6 RW or adding a bit for a young middle pair RHD of equal caliber.

LaCombe was a top 10 prospect in our system before jumping onto the main roster, and our system is DEEP, kid's going to have a long NHL career.

The Blues are not going for Zegras, because that would be the dumbest thing they could possibly do. The Kyrou haters need to get a grip, he's far better than Zegras even in a down season (if one can genuinely call 65-70 points while becoming an actual weapon defensively a "down season").

At least buffdaddy treated him like he has value, but still. If they did a Kyrou for Zegras trade, these same fans would be screeching to the moon over how Zegras plays in about four seconds flat.

I agree with all of that yes, just simply stating that if they were to go for Zegras theyd use like Bolduc or Dean and a pick before Kyrou

I cannot imagine them going for Zegras. We have other important priorities.

Speed really never has been Killers game he's an avenger skater at best. Verbeek had to know that Killorn is is a shutdown defensive foward corners/net front presence guy. Using him in a speed role is setting him up for failure.

He's not being utilized as a speedster, but he keeps getting burned defensively and he takes penalties trying to keep the guy from getting past him. On a team with a great defense it's not a big issue but that's not us yet.
