Play the Kids Make a Run at Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rednwhite</b></div><div>I am not so sure that they decline immediately. Suter likely matches Cirelli's production on that 3rd line at a fraction of the cost. Suter had 7 less point on a significantly worse team. Suter is only 2 years older then Cirelli as well. Veleno is a former 1st rounder finishing his 1st year in the NHL. Seems like a reasonable deal for both teams to me.
I assumed Ken Holland gives Kane a massive deal and can't afford JP but I agree they will likely match it if they can.</div></div>
There's a difference between offensive production and overally production though...Cirelli has had Selke votes in each of his 3 seasons, including his rookie year. He's one of the top possession players in the league. Suter and Veleno are merely depth players. Veleno has a bit of upside, but he also hasn't been able to steal more minutes on, as you said, a signifcantly worse team. Tampa has shown that they don't give two poops about picks or prospects. Cirelli's value >>>>> this package.

Cernak is too vital to trade for Tampa while we remain competitive. I appreciate you making a real offer though and not a full-blown low-ball offer.

TDL with Comparable
Tampa declines. If they see Motte in their future plans I could maybe see a 1st for Motte retained+3rd, but not a chance Tampa is moving their 1st and one of their better RD prospects for Motte and a 3rd. It's nit really comparable to the Goodrow trade, as the extra player Tampa moved was just to have the number of contracts fit, as he wasn't a highly valued prospect

Gimme ballpark cost estimates here
Cernak isnt going anywhere. hes our best RHD and will be cheap to resign. 0 chance moves him any time soon but if your looking for his value, its somewhere around a mid to high 1st + a high B prospect or a top prospect and a couple of 2nd-3rd round picks

I am sensing we do not know how LTIR works.
Simply acquiring an inured player who's on LTIR does not give a team more cap space.

If you are cleared to play you can’t be on LTIR. In theory anyway, i’m sure there has been some manipulation and a blind eye turned at times.

There's nothing in the CBA about this. The QO is there so players get an increase in pay from contract to contract. If the player has a deal before he is qualified, that QO never exists and therefore, never needs to be more expensive.

Cernak is probably one best values at RHD right now and moving him creates a bigger hole and they are so loaded at LHD that there's really no place for Rielly. Everyone on the left side for Tampa is better than Rielly.

Teams I Could See Wanting Kesler LITR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>Just curious, what does Keslers LTIR bring to other teams?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntreDiAnaheim</b></div><div>Cap space. When Kesler is put on LITR, he’s contract goes towards cap space. Similar to guys like Seabrook with Tampa</div></div>
🤦♂️ This is the most infuriating misinformation in all of hockey. Adding LTIR <strong>does not</strong> give a team cap space. If you have LTIR it means that your team cannot accrue cap space. Which means that operating with extra LTIR is a hindrance as opposed to operating normally. The reason that Tampa Bay added Seabrook, Gaborik, and Nilsson is because they were already operating in LTIR for all of last season anyways, and they were taking them on to pay their salary as incentive to get a trade done. Having Seabrook and operating in LTIR is a bad thing for the Bolts, but it’s better than having Johnson’s cap hit.
The only way LTIR helps anyone is if you were planning for that player to play for you. Since Kesler is retired, all adding him does is make your cap situation harder to deal with (you cannot exceed the cap at <strong>any</strong> point, even for a single day) and guarantees any performance bonuses immediately become overages. (Unless the team is already operating in LTIR, in which case it makes no difference)

Stamkos could have played to end the season and Tampa would have been compliant.
Lightning beat writer for the Athletic said the league has no issues with the timeline of Kucherov's return. They've already done their due diligence.
Seguin had similar surgery to Kucherov and only just returned before the end of the season, but had his surgery over a month before Kucherov's. If anything Kuch is being rushed back.

Aside from <a href="/users/Stan_Bowman" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Stan_Bowman</a>'s bullseye above, Tyler Johnson isn't such a burden that Tampa would have to pay a first to get rid of him, but even if he were, Strome Zadorov and a second is woefully short for Mikhail Sergachev.

Neal will be 33 next season and you can expect regression to start. I also think his numbers this year have benefited from PP time with McDavid and Co.

Verhaeghe Dumont ABB
Conacher Andreoff Volkov
Katchouk Colton/Stephens Raddysh
If Stephens was healthy all year Colton wouldnt have had as big of a year as he did. Katchouk was my dissapointment for the year. He was best as a penalty killer and had no luck around the net.
