I know Tampa has reported interest in Schenn, but these deals are getting ridiculous. 2nd + 3rd for a depth dman?

Tampa is not moving Cernak unless they get an offer they can't refuse. This is not that kind of offer.

Do you honestly think Cirelli's value comes from his offensive production?

Per description of the post:
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quote:</div>“Not available” is a totally suitable answer</div>
Tampa is trying to win now. They have won two cups with Cernak as their top RHD, unless you're upgrading Cernak in his role it doesn't make sense. Cernak is proven and Tampa's only actual top 4 RHD, what reason would they have for moving him out? In reference of the two suggested valuations of Cernak (2nd, or Cernak+ for Severson) neither make sense for Tampa. A 2nd is a gross underpayment and does nothing for Tampa who are trying to win, and Severson isn't a suitable replacement for Cernak.
This ACGM is trying to add a "defensive RD who can move puck reasonably well out of d-zone", implying the Devils are missing that type of player, which is what Tampa would need back in any trade where they move out Cernak. So in this context Cernak isn't available.

Cernak isn't available. Young top 4 shutdown RHD with physicality don't grow on trees. Bolts have no one to replace him in his role.

Tampa Acquire Assets for Another run amp future cap Detroit 2nd Line Center
This doesn't make sense any for Tampa, they're chasing cups and this makes them a worse team both now and next year given Leddy and Vlad are pending UFAs.
Moving out Cirelli would leave a massive hole in the top 6 that Namestnikov doesn't come close to filling. Namestnikov is a fine depth scorer, but Cirelli is a top defensive C and PKer who contributes offensively. Plus, Leddy really doesn't move the needle for Tampa at all. He would be their 4th best LHD and his strengths as a dman (skating, puck moving) are more than covered by the likes of Hedman and Sergachev. The picks and prospect are fine, but aren't really of interest to a win-now team like Tampa, especially if it means moving one of their current key contributors.

Why would Tampa do this? It makes no sense for them to give up a Cernak, a first, and a prospect for a worse dman, a 3rd liner, and a negligible asset

Playoff team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Aero_Astro_Guy</b></div><div>I mean, they wanted to save McD. And you might get a cheaper option than a 5 mil 3rd pair guy (ofc Sergachev is better than a 3rd pair D, but that is Tampa). And they cannot have any money going back. You cannot have Killorn and Cirelli as your top 6 LWs and win a cup. Palat is untouchable. He is the fundamental guy for this team.</div></div>
Couple things.
First, Sergachev is 3rd pairing on paper alone. Tampa doesn't really do conventional defensive pairings, everyone plays with everyone. Last season Sergachev was 2nd on the team in ATOI during the regular season (21:58, behind Hedman) and 3rd in the playoffs (21:52, behind Hedman and McDonagh).
Second, Cirelli is not a LW. He has been our 2C for the past two seasons. Sometimes playing RW on a line with Point when we had injuries. Also, Killorn is a really good 2nd line LW, not sure why you think you can't win a cup with him and Cirelli in the top 6 seeing as we've done it <strong>twice</strong>.
Third, Palat is hardly untouchable. He is a important member of the team but unless he takes a significant discount to stay he will be gone next offseason in UFA.

Just so you know, the compensation for 8.5 x 7 is four 1sts. The 59.5 million is divided by 5 years not 7, which bumps it into the top tier of compensation.
I'm not sure where you're getting the 1st, 2nd, 3rd as compensation because according to the offersheet calculator on this site the AAV range for that return is $6,166,097 - $8,221,463. Unless I'm missing something.

Cheap replacement forwards are something the Lightning have an abundance of. Mattheiu Joseph and Alex Barre-Boulet both step into full time roster spots next year. Cernak is a great value contract and trading him away is of little cap benefit to the Bolts. You trade Orlov for a 2nd and a 3rd but Cernak is only worth a guy you traded Christian Djoos for? Come on man.
And if Suter is a viable replacement for Cernak you should just sign Suter and keep your cheap goal scoring forward.

Cernak to Ott for some cap relief
Tampa declines.
Underpayment aside, Cernak is not the guy moved for cap relief. RHD is our weakest position and Cernak is our only high level RHD. On top of that Cernak is on a very good value contract, moving out his 2.95 mil doesn't help us, and the cost to replace him would be at least that.
Tampa needs to clear around 10 mil in cap, Moving 2 of Johnson/Palat/Killorn/Gourde achieves that, moving out Cernak means we still need to move two of those guys or McDonagh.

What Tampa looks like with Nick Paul on their team next year
I imagine Tampa passes on this deal. While they will need to fill out a lot of their bottom 6, they have ample options in Syracuse to do so, namely Joseph, Stephens, Barre-Boulet, Raddysh, Katchouk. The first being moved is extra unlikely given we almost certainly need to use it to convince a team to take Tyler Johnson.
Just an FYI when using the Goodrow trade as a baseline, Goodrow had 1.5 years left and was a player specifically targeted due to his style of play, cap hit, term, and role. Goodrow wasn't being shopped by the Sharks, the first was used to convince them to trade him. So using the Goodrow comparison on a player the Sens are looking to move anyways doesn't really work

Tampa will almost certainly protect 4-4-1.
Point, Kucherov, Stamkos, Cirelli
Hedman, Sergachev, Cernak, Foote
Vasilevskiy
We have to lose a player in expansion regardless, protecting 7-3-1 doesn't change that. If Seattle wants Palat, Killorn, Gourde, McDonagh, etc, that's fine. Sucks to lose one of them but it helps with the cap.

They need to free up roughly 8-9 mil minimum to be able to keep a full roster, without adding anyone important, Unless they work out a deal with Seattle i think this type of trade could make sense for them. Of course they wont want to part with Foote but <strong><em>thats the type of sacrifice teams who want to remain competitive for 5-10 years have to make</em></strong>.</div></div>
Trading away a 22 year old RHD with top 4 potential is a move to stay competitive moving forward? It is very unlikely Tampa sells from a position of weakness (RD) to move TJ, they will use their young F depth for sweeten a deal. This deal is especially troublesome as Tampa would not be looking to replace TJ in a deal getting rid of him. <strong>If </strong> we were to trade Foote as the sweetener for TJ it would require a RHD coming back.

Pearson and Kuch for playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RC333</b></div><div>Yea I'm a canucks fan, and he's worth more because his cap won't count during the season which allows tampa to add a good player just in time for playoffs.
Tampas looking to win a championship, adding Pearson and kuch will help them big time. Plus if there are injuries Pearson can step into the top 6.
I already said a 2nd is where Pearson value is, tampa will win the cup with him which is a late first basically a second. I think this is fair especially considering what tampa paid for Coleman and goodrow last year.</div></div>
It doesn't make sense to compare the Coleman and Goodrow trades to this. Tampa paid the high asking price for Goodrow and Coleman because they were exactly what we were looking for, had low cap hits, and had an extra season under contract. They weren't pure rental deals like this would be. Tampa has an abundance of forwards -- wingers especially -- which makes Pearson redundant.
Why would we waste a first on an injured player we don't need when we could use it it to fill a positional need (RHD) or to help clear out cap space in the offseason? And don't say LTIR, that doesn't matter as we don't need a another winger.
