Panarin Offseason
I'm not even an NYR fan, I don't understand why people think Panarin is bad now? He's literally coming off his fourth consecutive 90-point pace season, he's still one of the best wingers and playmakers in the league.

Then Dillon somewhere else for a return around a 3rd or 2nd round pick, that one was more about the return than the specific team

Just wanted to explore what a PLD trade could look like somewhere other than Montreal, if not Montreal I could see Dubois be willing to go to a big market like NY. Money would be super tight for the Rangers but I would assume they would move Trocheck to RW and play something like this:
Panarin - Dubois - Lafreniere
Kreider - Zibanejad - Trocheck

Team Russia World Junior Roster - December Edition
I would probably throw Nikolai Kovalenko into the mix as well to play on the wing for Russia, and although Russia is usually a team comprised almost entirely out of 19 year olds, I wonder if Vasily Podkolzin is also on the radar due to the way he lit the Hlinka-Gretzky tournament on fire.
EDIT: Also I imagine Grigori Denisenko is on the radar as well, or at least he should be. Kid is uber skilled, could be one of Russia's better forwards at the tournament.

Deadline Sell
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buchnevesey</b></div><div>I feel like we could get 2 seconds or a first for Grabs</div></div>
I feel like to a degree there's some weariness to give up a lot for a guy like Grabner, despite his goal totals this season and last. Throughout his career his production has been spotty from location to location and I think teams are cognisant of that, he can be somewhat streaky so there might be some reservations on giving up a lot for him. That being said, with his production the past two years I can see a team making a bet on him getting hot for the playoffs with a 2nd and a mid round pick.

I'd tailor back a bit and say Brown and a 1st for McDonagh is fair, that's a young 20 goal scorer and a pick in the 20's range, for a #2-ish defenseman (I'm not convinced McDonagh is a #1, not discounting he's a good defenseman though). I don't think McDonagh is worth anything near a 20 year old, 1st line player, but a young, quality NHL level player and a high pick is fair value.

McDonagh and a 3rd doesn't get you close to Mitch Marner, maybe you could look at Connor Brown and a 2nd, but the Leafs aren't giving up a 20 year old with the talent to put up 70 points for McDonagh.

I think your valuation on those players is a bit high. If Danault is your best center, then that's all you need to know about the quality of Montreal's roster right now, Danault is a 3C on a good team.

Deadline + Letang
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MONSTER1974</b></div><div>I think MTL get more than a 3rd for Plekanec, especially if they eat half of his salary. At least a 2nd, maybe even a 1st. Keep in mind, a team that is willing to take on Pleks, is making a playoff push, and will draft 25-31 in the 1st round anyways. That 1st round pick is almost a 2nd anyways.
No way I would make that Danault trade. I think Danault has a future in this league as a 3rd line center and can chip in 15 goals a year. Mueller hasn't shown anything in any league yet that he could do the same.
I like the PIT trade... not sure they do. Depends what they see in Mete. I think Mete would look good on a 3rd pairing next season with Noah Juulsen. That duo could someday be our 2nd pairing after a few seasons of experience. Maybe if you lose Mete in a deal, you have to re-sign Jerabek in the offseason in hopes of maintaining some d-corps depth.</div></div>
I don't think there's any way Montreal gets more than a 3rd for Plekanec, he's an average 3C that can add depth to a contender, only has 16 points this season and only 28 all of last season, don't see him fetching much.
I'm actually a Devils fan and I actually think it would be tough to lose Mueller in a trade like that, Mueller had a stable position in our lineup and was playing quality minutes before he got hurt, just think Danault would help fill a role for NJ and his speed fits the Devs system, Mueller is a quality player though IMO

The blueprint is about what Winnipeg got for Ladd, so for example from St. Louis you're probably looking at Barbashev, 1st, and maybe a 2nd, not a team's top two prospects and two 1sts

oh yes and the NYR 2nd rounder stays where it is too. Hayes will be protected.</div></div>
The TVR one is all but confirmed IRL, don't look at me for that one.
And if it's not Hayes, then it's Stepan, Kreider, or Miller, pick your poison. I've stated this like a dozen times on here, the way it stands right now one of them needs to be left unprotected.

Rust I might be wrong on, but the way it stands now the Rangers need to leave Hayes exposed because they need to leave two under contract forwards exposed. Nash (NMC), Stepan, Zibanejad, Miller, Kreider, and Zuccarello will all take priority over him. Orlov also I think is gonna suffer from the numbers game, Niskanen, Carlson, and Alzner all ahead of him.</div></div>
Caps won't protect Alzner as he is a UFA and he would have to agree on a contract with Vegas. You only mentioned 6 NYR forwards who would take priority over Hayes, he will be the 7th forward and Vegas will probably pick Grabner. If Pittsburgh doesn't protect Domoulin, they will definitely protect Rust. Isles can either leave both De Haan and Hickey unprotected, or protect one and leave Nelson and Strome exposed.</div></div>
The Rangers have 8 under contract forwards and need to leave two of them exposed per the rules of the expansion draft. They need to leave two of Nash, Stepan, Zibanejad, Miller, Kreider, Zuccarello, Hayes, and Grabner exposed unless they trade for another under contract forward.
Forgot about Alzner being a UFA, so that's fair enough. For the Pens I had their protection list as Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Hornqvist, Letang, Maatta, Schultz, and Pouliot, but I may be overvaluing Pouliot.

I agree that they'll make a move to prevent it, but as it stands now they need to. Need to leave two under contract forwards unprotected and that likely leaves Hayes and Grabner, unless Nash agrees to waive his NMC.

Had them taking Nick Cousins from Philly, I think based on the players that are going to be available from the Flyers Vegas would rather go with a prospect/youngster over guys like Weise, Raffl, Read, and McDonald who all carry term and salary.

Realistic NJD

Look where he rates in the St Louis lineup (maybe St Louis observers can comment). He rates behind Pietrangelo and made even Parayko.
Remember how the NJD "stole" Hall from the Oilers.....look how successful having one better player has worked out for the Devils.</i></div></div>
The last time a defenseman of Shattenkirk'a caliber went to UFA, he got a 13 year contract for $7.5M per, Shatty is getting paid, no doubt about it, and a lot more than $6.5M. If the Devils don't give him $8M, someone else will, and I'd eat my hat if it's less than $7.5M

The Stafford trade I like but that's way too much to ask for Trouba. Take out Svechnikov and Turgeon and you may have something.
