Guys this is 2026. You need to stop thinking in TODAY's climate/stats, and be open minded about how mindblowing these other guys can be when they're moving into their primes (do you really want a 30 year old Horvat with lots of mileage on him, or a 25 year old Cozens who is faster? Barzal doesn't play well enough defensively to get on the olympic team. We won't be outscoring the Americans so we need shutdown players.

MacKinnon is a top 4 player in the league, one of the true difference makers in the game, Tkachuk is never going to be that. This is one of the dumbest posts on CF I’ve ever seen. Congrats.

Agree on Fred. Swayman could take a contract close to that value for 1 or 2 years until the Bs can afford to give him a richer long- term contract.

I think O'Reilly will ultimately get something like 4.2.4.6 x 2 years with 50% or more in signing bonuses and NTC. Doug does not offer NMC. Something that is just below the top performing 3Cs (Charlie Coyle as comp).

The term is probably going to be 2, unless an offer at 5 years or above occurs.

But if that does not happen, it will be 2. This will allow O'Reilly to sign one more contract before he is 35+, which is just inconvenient due to rules about the pay structure, signing bonuses, buyouts, etc.

Armstrong basically said they are in the market for one position (center) in the offseason with a budget around $4m…if he’s able to move Scandella or Krug, maybe more (he didn’t say that part)
