TRADE ZEGRASS
Whether you guys get Levshunov or Lindstrom, I’m going to hate playing you guys every season. way too much talent in Anaheim, way too much young skill! I see a cup in Anaheim in the next 10 years for sure. So long as you guys have a good coach and don’t screw up these kids development.

I'm with ya here, I'm not sure why everyone is so optimistic. I dislike the blue line and the goaltending and we know lalonds system isn't going to outscore anyone.

Brodie returns a first
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shaun80</b></div><div>It's not that Brodie is worth nothing, the problem is that any teams that could use him would have to send salary back. The teams that can afford him how ever have no need for him and aren't going to pay a high price.</div></div>
Yeah absolutely and he is owed $7.5M this year in actual money....I would like to see a defenseman that is a bit cheaper with term that a team isn't that interested in keeping come back in a trade but that is very slim pickings.
Nashville and New York Islanders have their top pairs on big contracts and locked in so maybe Brodie for one season is intriguing if they see him as better than guys like Lauzon or Romanov on their bottom pairs maybe they need a prospect thrown in but I like those trades that is the only trade I see where the Leafs benefit sending him away for a third and a fourth combined I think is not too bad also or like tinordi for the savings in money and the Blackhawks again have to see Brodie as an upgrade to tinordi
But anyways I think you are making sense with your assessment.

Yeah, just not enough. Blue line is fine, more than fine even, but outside of the top line that forward group is just ugly, and Thompson on his own basically in net isn't great

50 mil team
This team DEFINITELY makes the playoffs, maybe a 6th seed, maybe an 8th. When they get to the playoffs, they would be a extremely difficult team to out hustle. Could surprise a couple teams and play the spoiler role. Top 3 would be nasty, 2nd line would be extremely exciting to watch, most of the bottom six are hard nosed guys, defensive is above average and goaltending might surprise some people.
I took a quick look at P/60 amongst the forwards and found that most of the Top 9 are around a goal and an assist per 60 minutes. So there is a lot of potential for 30/30 guys sprinkled in. Possession metrics and GV/TK were decent and a lot of these guys are gonna get a hit per game. Not a bad mix of statistics.
If Noah Cates learns how to win face-offs and gets the ice time, you might just have two of the top 30 Centers in the league(Just a hunch).
I'd expect Robertson and Thompson to have 100+ points each, possibly 120-130+.
Nice build @dickey-boon, I think it's a GREAT team, with plenty of cap space to resign just about everyone and possibly add some pieces. KUDOS!!!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dickie_boon</b></div><div>people will look back and say that drafting him over fantilli made sense. hes a beast</div></div>
I think Fantilli will ultimately be better then Carlsson, but both had insane pre-draft years in their respective leagues. But only so many guys can do what Fantilli did. and I really like Carlsson as well.

Thread:
(PHI/STL) - Hayes for 2024 6th (STL)
After all these absolute salary dumps, and cap being the most valuable thing: watch all the dumb signings in a couple days.
Get ready for
Bertuzzi who has cracked 50 points once, and can't stay healthy to get 6-8 million for term.
Compher who has cracked 35 points once, getting mid to high 5s and term
Barbashev who has cracked 50 points once and 30 points twice, to get mid to high 5s for term
Bunting to get north of 4, potentially north of 5 million who did admittedly get 63 points and 49 points in his only 2 full NHL seasons. But while I don't have with/without you stats, from my eye test/memory, he scored like a 25-30 point scorer when not with Matthews or Marner.... I'd rather have Hall for 2 years at 6, then Bunting for term at 5...

Thread:
(PHI/STL) - Hayes for 2024 6th (STL)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Roperttos</b></div><div>Easy win for the Blues. Getting a Hayes at only 3,5 mil for a 6th is great. Philly lost all leverage after the Johansen trade</div></div>
They never had leverage. Hayes is north of 30 with lots of term and up and down play. They did not have an alternate option, since a buyout would cost them more than retaining half.
Cap space is a weapon when rebuilding. Nobody else was going to take Hayes. Sitting on him wasn't going to raise his value.
Free agency is bad this year, so teams seem to be turning to each other to take bad mid-term contracts instead of going into free agency and signing worse contracts. GMs of rebuilding teams seem to be using this as an opportunity to fix mistakes and create cap flexibility to work with for the rebuild. The half retained on contracts like Hayes and Johansen are sunk costs. That's what people fail to understand. There isn't magically going to be a way to spark up a market for these kind of players. It's just not going to happen. Philadelphia, Boston, and Nashville are all likely thrilled to clear the cap they did, even if it didn't return any real assets. That same opportunity may not be there next off season.
