I think this probably will turn out to be a great value contract for the Kings.
I mean it carries him through his prime years and it likely ends before he's on too steep of a downward slope caused by age. I think the best is yet to come for Dubois.
This is what's known in the industry as paying the stupid tax. The Kings could be paying Tim Stützle 8.35mil to be a 90pt C, but because they took Byfield they now have to pay a huge trade price so they can pay Dubois 8.5mil to be a 60pt C.

This is LAK continuing to build their team to try to beat McDavid/Draisaitl…
Dubois
Kopitar
Danault
Might be the best defensive 1/2/3 C group in the league
Dubois needs some defensive improvement, but I don't know if any team has a better center pool than LA now. Kopi, PLD, Danault, Byfield, Lizzote, Turcotte, Pinelli. Maybe Buffalo? Maybe Vegas? Dallas?

You're right the Earth does revolve around the Sens
Did PLD learn to play defense and no one told me about it?
The CBJ/TOR series in 2020 permanently altered how so many people view this player. In that series he was this big 6'3 C with a lot of edge and shutdown ability, and to this day he still has this perception that that is what he is. The truth is he's not that, or at least has never shown he's willing/capable of being that on a nightly basis. Still a great player, that's just not who he is at all.
