MTL got a better return for a bad player than Kevin Hayes (a good player)

Edmundson is bad. Don't let any habs fans tell you otherwise. Even half retained paying a 3rd in addition to a 7th is too much

who knows, he can easily bounce back, he had 2 solid seasons before, but last year he sure was our worse defenceman.

Well, well, well. Isn't what we've been saying all along... Big Ed isn't a capdump!

It may not be a 2nd, but a 3rd + is pretty decent return.

That's about what I'd pay for Edmundson with 50% retention.

Fair deal.

Edmundson is a bad 2nd pairing defender, was hoping we could cash out at the TD, but it makes sense as we have too many NHL defenders on our roster.

As clever as the posts were that Mtl and moving Edmundson would need to pay assets to move. Moving on.

Fair deal. Edmundson's play has been hindered by back problems since the Cup Final run, but at 50% retained he doesn't take up much space on the Capitals roster and presumably will play lesser minutes; and Montreal absolutely needed to move him for the roster spot more than anything.

Yeah. Everything he has done on the ice for the previous few years.
You're welcome to look up the analytics for him on your own time

sure,, i will counter that you look at all the games he played during those 2 seasons and his cap hit and what he did given the role he was put into.

At the trade deadline a retention spot is usually worth a 3rd so this means that the Habs traded Eddy for a 7th.
I think he is worth more than a 7th if he is recovered from his back injury.
So this is a loss for Montreal
But I understand why they did it --- they wanted to open a spot in the line-up for Xhekaj
