For Lily I just cut and paste his best buddy's contract $ amount, Sandin. They both signed for $1.4 AAV beforehand.
The great hope of Woll being a Nhl #1 goalie has hit a wall this year, as he has looked shaky. So claiming Hildeby as the new future #1 is a scary thought.

Based on the Debrincat deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>And again, missing context of the Fiala trade, which is that Minnesota couldnt afford to keep him, so they traded him for the best they could get, this is not a situation that is applicable to Anaheim or Zegras.
Secondly, none of us are asking for four firsts, we have been rejecting every proposal from HABS fans that have four firsts, because we don't want a grab bag of middle of the lineup assets, we already have those, <strong>IF</strong> we were to trade Zegras, it would be a long the lines of the Gauthier-Drysdale and Mittlestadt-Byram deals, a blue chip asset as the base of the deal, which would be Reinbacher, or MTLs 1st this year.</div></div>
Then the Ducks keep Zegras until the point his trade value drops and they must take a lower trade value, because NO team is meeting the Duck fans or Verbeek's asking price.
It'll be just like Debrincat trade all over again. Have a high asking price and watch the trade value drop until the team trading him just gives up and takes the lower value than they could have gotten a year earlier.

Dear Leafs Fans
I think Leafs trading for TvR is more commonly done than the Leafs dumping Kampf or Liljgren.
Though the fun part of Lily going to the Caps is re-uniting with his long time Leaf and Marlie line mate, Sandin.

Ducks fan response...
Four 1st Rd picks required or no trade.
On a serious take.
Trade comparable I would say is Fiala.
He was a young star player on a bridge deal with RFA ending. Just like Zegras.
He was traded for a 1st Rd pick and a top prospect Dman, Faber. Who has turned into a legit top 4 RHD in the NHL.
So Mailloux and a 1st Rd pick.

I just looked at Kadri's contract as a comparable. But since Duchene is getting old buyout money ontop of whatever he signs for, a $5 million AAV sounds about right.

1. Duchene
2. Strome
3. McMichael
4. Lapierre
Dowd will get traded as a rental player. And when injuries occur McMichael and or Lapierre have the skill to move into 2C for a short while. Or if the lineup is too thin in the top 6, McMichael can play 2LW or Duchene can move to 1RW.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>I don't think they go after Duchene because they would have such a logjam on right wing that it would not be wise. These players could play right wing off of that Roster above: Wilson, Leonard, Milano, Protas, Miroschnichenko and Sgarbossa (granted he will most likely be in the ahl).
If they brough in someone like Duchene it would have to be on a one year deal so they can get their youth involved more.
I could see Zac Funk and Persson in the hunt for a roster spot next year. If Funk can keep his game this strong that is. Persson has a chance after his Mestis season.</div></div>
Duchene was drafted and started his career as a center so...

I guess you missed reading the poll, to get out of cap hell the Ilses will have to trade at least one player away.
Nelson is the least likely but...can he score 25 goals next season so he trade value at the deadline will be a 1st Rd'er?
As for Tarasenko, well the Ilses were one of the teams considering signing him last summer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy316</b></div><div>Wouldnt trading him to PIT make more sense?
They're closer even if older and have Letang, Karlsson, Malkin and Crosby there already
Let the Transition to Team Wilson begin and help Ovi go to a team that can spark his Scoring again.
I mean having a Cheerleading team of Lamieux, Crosby, Malkin, Letang and Karlsson would boost his ego im sure.
Plus if they could get Fluery backing up Jarry i think you'll see Jarry's play boosts as every Tandem partner MAF has does.
The Vintage Team could sign a couple younger guys like Dakota Joshua or acquire a Kaliyev and be in prime shape for a run</div></div>
Dubas couldn't handle a trade as big and important as that.

how to get out of cap hell
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Thinking the Hawks will be "buyers" this off season and trade away picks for vets isn't going to happen. They'll do exactly what they did last summer. Take on a bad contract or two for additional picks and sign 2 or 3 UFA's. Teams like Chicago, San Jose and Anaheim will be trying to monitize their cap space. Isles will be lucky to move JGP at his full cap hit for future considerations or a late round pick at best. There just aren't many teams looking for a 3C with a $5m cap hit. If the Isles retain on him, then sure, maybe they find a trade partner.
As for Beau, the Hawks were in a desperate situation to add a guy who could play in their top 6, which was decimated by injuries at the time of that trade. Turned out Beau wasn't that guy. Why Nashville paid a 5th for him is still a mystery to me. Beau is not a $4m player. Not even close.</div></div>
A third line center named Monahan got traded for a 1st Rd pick.
I know, his contract is more than half less than Pageau's.

Why so sensitive because I brought up your team... honestly believe Pageau has postive trade value, even if the other GM's believe they're helping Lou get out of his cap hell mess.
If Beauvillier can get traded twice for positive trade value (albeit just a 5th Rd'er) Pageau who is by far a better player, can be positive trade value too.
oh yea, it was the Hawks who helped Van get out of cap hell by giving them a 5th Rd'er for a $4+ million 4th liner.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Didn't see this before I wrote my other comment. This line of thinking isn't realistic at all from the Hawks perspective. They have PLENTY of experience in their room already. And after re-signing Dickinson, Foligno and Mrazak, the Hawks will have no problem signing two or three UFA's and hitting the cap floor. If you want some perspective on how a JGP to Chicago trade would look, see last summer's Bailey to Chicago deal.</div></div>
See Bailey is retired, Pageau is still a Nhl worthy player.
And Bailey was traded to be bought out, hence the bribe.
Big difference.

Not totally un-believable; the Pens GM traded a 2nd Rd pick for 2 years @ $5 for Grunland and a 3rd Rd pick for 2 years @ $5 for R. Smith.

My thought of any Nelson or Palmieri trade would be done at the trade deadline, which equals a bigger trade value return. If the Ilses can even get under the cap to make them.
Pageau with 2 seasons left, I believe he'll get a positive return even without retention, especially going to a bottom feeding team who needs experience and high cap hit with a low cash payout. Pageau checks all those boxes off.
