Pesce isn’t signing that. Add at least another 1mil for him to even likely consider.

An underperforming center for a center who can’t stay healthy. I think the Canes just keep KK at that point.

That package probably gets you out of the Gaudreau contract without retention, but it certainly doesn’t get you out AND get Svech. 5 years remaining at just shy of 10mil, with full trade protection, and he is only playing like a 60 point player is not a good look. Not to mention the fact he is on the wrong side of 30.

good for both team
Canes don’t consider that trade, and if Necas were willing to sign that, he would be re-signed by the Canes already.

Canadiens 2024-25 starting lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Not close to either player, each of whom is comparable to Cole Caufield.
You cannot construct realistic trades that benefit both sides by starting the process thinking about what assets you believe you can afford to give up. Instead, a good place to start is by asking yourself what the OTHER team needs that might induce them to trade you the asset(s) you're trying to acquire. For Anaheim, that's a quality RW or RD, or a sufficiently high draft pick to select one.</div></div>
And to piggyback on the team needs train, the Canes need a clear cut 2C or a young winger replacement coming back for Necas. They have no need for D or D prospects.

Would Carolina consider this
Doubtful. Copp isn’t that much better offensively, and defensively I would rather have KK. Add in his contract is worse than KK’s, albeit with 2 years less term. Both are currently bottom 6 C right now, but KK still has potential to be a 2C. Frankly, Drury would probably end up being the cheapest of the bunch, and might be the most effective.

Making changes
Doubtful that gets Necas. Danielson will likely be very good, but he isn’t as dominant as I would have imagined he would be in the WHL currently. Definitely a little bit of a red flag. Besides, Canes are looking to upgrade on Necas if they move him, not take a package of futures.

I’m sure the Canes definitely want another underperforming center, and one that can’t stay healthy either. Canes pass.

Pretty sure the last thing the Habs want to do is play a game of f*** around and find out, especially when they have several big name prospects due for a payday over the couple of years.

I too would like to throw my scraps at another team and get a talented top 6 forward in return. Sadly, that’s not how reality works.

In the scenario Kane leaves
You can quote the Fiala/ADB/Reinhart etc. comps all you want. At the end of the day, none of them were being sold by a contender, so they aren’t that good of a comparable situation. A “solid” offer, which the proposed is not, isn’t getting Necas. The Canes don’t have to move anyone to keep Necas and re-sign Jarvis and Guentzel.
Either a drastic overpayment in future assets, which the Canes are not looking for, or a top 6 upgrade over Necas is what the Canes would be looking to move Necas for.

Draft 2024
Canes probably pass on that one. That pick is currently conditional, but assuming it doesn’t get transferred, see the Canes-Preds trade at the 2021 draft if I remember correctly, for value. Harris doesn’t bring much value to the Canes since the Canes already have a plethora of dmen, and not getting a high second in return isn’t helping.

Next season
Canes really don’t have much interest in LHD. For this next season, the Canes will either bring up Smith/Fensore for the 3LD spot, or sign a cheap 3LD stopgap until Nikishin comes over. Unless the Canes somehow manage to get Skjei to agree to a sweetheart deal for ridiculously cheap, they likely go for a middle aged veteran stopgap on a 1 year deal.

2024-25
Marchessault will get more on the open market, at around the 7mil range. The only reason he would likely be willing to sign that deal is if he is really wanting to stay with Vegas, and is willing to take a discount.
Also, attach a 1st to Chiarot and maybe the Canes consider taking him on.

Canes aren’t looking for a quantitative package of meh. Canes have the space to sign Necas, and have no reason to move him. Unless you force the Canes hands with a qualitative package, Necas isn’t being moved.

If Necas is willing to sign that, a trade isn’t being made. Besides, I don’t think the Isles have the assets the Canes would want for Necas either, so probably not the greatest of trading partners if Necas were to be moved.
