The leverage is the team trading for him can negotiate his contract. Gives that team even more control...which seems like a pretty desirable thing to me

Lets Pretend All 3 Are Going
I think ur underselling on both Dahlin and Eichel. Dumbs only has two years of control and then he can walk. The Pittsburgh 1st is a bottom half of first round pick...which doesn’t always turn into much.
Eichel needs to bring much more than that. Strome has one year left. Kakko has not shown enough to be the centrepiece of this return. Chytil...solid but again, we’re giving away an elite player. Georgiev is a below average goalie imo. .905 save % last year. He just doesn’t impress me. And then adding a 2nd, which is essentially a late round 1st (ARZ doesn’t get to use their pick in round one). I don’t mind the Oilers trade in terms of value. But if we’re drafting Power, I don’t see the need for Broberg.

Reboot with getting it Wright in mind
I’d love more too...but with the neck concerns and all, getting Byfield and the 8th overall, which could see someone like a Guenther or Eklund fall...I’d take that at this point. When I look around the league, there’s not a lot of teams that can actually pull off a trade for Eichel, have the real desire/need (not a lateral type move, ie-Aho, Barzal, etc) and have pieces that make it worth it on our end. If there’s less demand...value drops. I’m also fine to just tell him to suck it up...we aren’t moving you...and call his bluff lol. What’s he gonna do? Not play in the midst of his prime? Don’t think so.

Yeah that’s a tough one. Byfield hasn’t proven anything yet, but he’s gonna be good. I have them throwing in the 8th overall as well. That’s going to be a solid player. If we’re moving all these guys out we have the money to take on Quick, even throw him down to Roch if we wanna move UPL up later in the year. And yeah with Sam...I was debating on making it our 2nd which is essentially a late first because ARZ doesn’t pick this year. I doubt SEA moves their first ever pick. But I don’t think the value is far off. Reinhart was a 2nd himself and is from out west...he’d be a good guy for them to rally around.

Sabres Playoff Bound
With the flat cap...money is everything. The jets have a lot of young offensive prospects. They don’t wanna pony up $9 mill + for Laine. Risto fills a top 4 role at a decent price. They got space to give a young guy a chance up front at a fraction of the cost. And two high end picks to use or have as trade assets. Lindholm is 2 years from ufa. The Ducks are 20 years from contention. Getzlaf is fading fast and a ufa next year I believe. Mitts still has a very good chance at being a top end center. Or strong 2c at the least. He’s 21. Zegras and Mitts down the middle!? Miller gives them a solid Dman for now. Laaksonen is an interesting prospect who I think will end up being a long time top 4 d at minimum. And then there’s the 2nd rounder as well. I don’t think those trades are far fetched at all. It’s all about what works for your team...not perceived “even” value

I don’t know how much more of an A-list prospect ur gonna get for a trade involving Brodin. He can walk in a year.

Interesting. Yeah I’m not set on Holtby. I think he’s lost a big step. Just want someone cheap, and goodbye Hutton lol. I’d take Brouisset off of Wpg for cheap. Wasn’t sure on the value for minny. Staal is older and has a solid contract. He’s played well lately. I really see him as a perfect fit to transition Cozens to 2C. Mitts was the big piece. I still think he has a huge upside...and he’s a minny boy which the fans would love? Montour is controllable vs Brodin having just a couple years left. Brodin lose value for that. I think Montour comes in at a cheaper cost than resigning Brodin. Plus younger.

Sabres on the rise
Why does Pilut need a year in the A? He’s turning 23 in December and has played 5 years of pro in Sweden already. Won defenseman of the year last year. Two years ago Andreas Borgman put up 15 pts on Pilut’s SHL team...played 48 games for the Leafs the next year. The Leafs...who made the playoffs. Pilut put up 38 last year...can skate circles around Borgman...he doesn’t need a year in the AHL. And I’m not sure how you figure McCabe is better than Scandella.

I like getting Cogliano in the deal...his speed is a nightmare for the opposition. Really solid team. Moulson is the only one that doesn't fit in my opinion. But...that was the case last year too.

No Stamkos
Yeah I don't know. Anaheim is gonna be tight to the cap...you could tack on a few more picks...maybe a Carrier type prospect. But I think it's less than you think. Addition by subtraction for ANH cap-wise, and filling a need at the same time. In terms of OTT, again, they are being cap-conscious. If they aren't wanting to sign a young, nearly 30-goal scorer, what are you gonna give them? There D is high-priced now...again, addition by subtraction.

Hahaha! Yeah I fully agree on both points. I hear all this talk about the Sabres in the running for Stamkos...I honestly don't see it. Eichel is our future Stamkos...we don't really have room for both. As far as Fowler...I was out of options to make it work...I don't think it's super far off, the Ducks need to free up some money...nothing does that better than draft picks, and Fowler is not what I'd consider a top end d-man. What about the 8th and Girgensons for the 3rd?
