Marc Staal is another id target, Brendan Smith, Jason Demers, etc all with 2 years left</div></div>
awww ok now I understand, yes Melnyk would plan a year long vacation after this with all his savings lol!

all I need to say is why give up so many draft picks for players who arent playing anymore. Why reaqcuire ceci just to trade him and some draft picks and propsects for players that don't play anymore? Sens should weaponize cap space not eliminate to help other teams.

There would be room to negatiate, this way Laine has 2-3 years to prove it that he is who he say he is, between 4.5 and 6 million similar to Boeser. Connor gets his long term deal as a winger for 7 - 8.5 million on a 7 or 8 year long term deal

For the most part I agree, at the moment I think Doughty can make his look good but otherwise I have to agree with everyone on this list. If we future this list then I can Doughty going on the list. Also Petry has been fairly solid for the Canadiens. Tyler Myers would be a better addition.

what is your take on nikita gusev? I posted a team just below this with an idea for him. I think he could be a game changer top 6 player given the right opportunity. I don't think it is realistic that the oilers will get him though. Sounds like some lucky team will.</div></div>
I think Gusev would be a great help, but as you said doesnt look like the Oilers would be lucky enough. I do agree that Jones could be better, better option invite Phaneuf for training camp trial basis for competition on the blueline, If Jones beats him out then no signing needed.

That is not a complete terrible offer, now would it get done not even close. Carolina will ask for a high pick minimum maybe more. That being said, even the nashville trade, I really don't see nashville trading Subban for Nylander. All these offers way benefit the leafs and give little benefit to the other teams.

I agree, Stralman could help the leafs, but if we got Demers and Martinez, better to use the money on Kadri. I would hope if somethine like this happens Dubas can convince Arizona on a lower pick than a 2nd rounder, but that's just hope. Use Rosen, Kivihalme, Liljegren, Sandin instead of Stralman there.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>Lol why would Ottawa do that? Russell is garbage</div></div>
Ottawa is like 20 million below the minimum cap floor, so whether Russell or anyone is garbage, they could be forced to take on salary for added picks and prospects. The rounder could be more in line with a 3rd, its a starting point. Nonetheless, Ottawa could very well end up with a couple "garbage players" before the season starts.

Back to the playoffs
I like it overall but I don't see Holland doing the vancouver trade til after the draft and trading a 2020 first, or maybe moving vancouver 3rd and offering just a 2020 second rounder. Otherwise I like them. And if Kessel approves which he potentially could to play with McDavid, this would be a good lineup with cap space if they feel they need to sign a more proven defender.

Could very well be, and maybe it would be less, we don't know how other teams value Kadri. Johnsson would garner a 2nd rounder via if he signs elsewhere, so not much for him. We know that Carolina values Pesce largely as they wanted Nylander minimum for him, probably more. It's a starting point and maybe Dubas who I admit has way more experience and training than me can reduce the price.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>Why do you want sutter so bad? He sucks.,,</div></div>
It's not that I want him it's that if we trade Kadri, we need a 3C desperately. Zaitsev trade could very likely need contract back, Sutter can give both of those. Are there better 3cs cheaper yes, but could we acquire them cheaply? That's the question. It's a trade proposal where if Kadri is traded, how to make Zaitsev happy and get back what we would need in as minimal trades.

Trading Draisaitl is a scary thought because he is that good for the Oilers, but for those trades you almost can't refuse because it would improve the team and clear cap. Nice to see a different touch at the roster.

The Bare Minimum
You are absolutely right, and even still, most teams will work toward a 23 man roster which is an extra 750 000 that needs to be accounted for. Every time I tried to create a roster I had to trade 2+ players, Nylander and Brown, Zaitsev and Kadri(which creates a defensive and center hole), Brown and Kadri, the list goes on, but it looks like leafs need to clear about 8-9 million to make a competitive balanced roster. Dubas has his hands full. I wish we could have a team with 12 forwards, 6 defenseman and 1 goalie and all the extras don't count toward the cap but it doesnt work like that.

I do agree with solidifying the roster instead, it was more for the fun to see if it could and how it would look and sens fans faces. For what Karlsson would make we could get 2-3 roster players that would surpass the value of a fully healthy karlsson. That much I do agree. Also to try and squeeze roster, I looked at the defense liable Drouin and attempted to undercut Marner by close to 1 million. So reall not worth it.

Good trade overall, but no way Nashville does it with them being close to the cap. Considering being close to the cap they will value Fabbro more as well. Also I would rather keep Kapanen over Johnsson, Kapanen kills penalties and same offense.

I made another one earlier which I much prefer. And more realistic. It does take Stralman not getting offers he expected, or get another dman ufa for about 3 million.

Karlsson will come back from the injuries. That much is known, he is too good not to. At the same token, this was for fun, because paying another close to over 10 mil for marner and a defenseman is going to pose problems. So at that point solidifying the roster is the better choice, I read a previous post of someone doing for fun and wanted to see if I could find a way for fun and keep that 6 million Marleau as he is most likely staying for the final year.

My Dream
Paying a lot for the goalies but clears from Lucic which is a HUGE plus. And only 2 years, to give a hopefully 1a, 1b tandem. I think it works. And 4 millions in cap to sign a couple defenders. It's possible with his age and the fact that many team want to go younger, Stralman could be netted for 3 million for a couple years. Not the best puck mover anymore but solid in his own end and would push Russell down.

Not only that losing Drouin and getting Neal only works if Neal scores 25+ goals, otherwise its a steal for Calgary. Hanifin and Weber would be a sweet defense tho. Just not sure is its good enough to bring them to SC Final, would still need Price to be $$$$ every game.

A Different approach
I don't know if Ottawa would do that trade, Melnyk is a cheapo and both Manning and Gagner where only Gagner is of some value for 2 draft picks. Also I think Vegas has Miller ranked higher to want much more closer to a 2nd rounder sadly. Otherwise, the trades make sense.
