It means either Dvorak is going out for less than his value or Price is hitting LTIR

I mean, yes, he is absolutely a dash player career overall, and hes also a dash player analytically, so I am struggling to understand your point? Any way that you look at it, he is a dash player, in the real world or in the world of analytics, he literally like the perfect example of an analytic working

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gary_gobbler</b></div><div>smith and klefbom aren't placed on LTIR, that's 6 million right there. Monahan has struggled with multiple injuries, making him absolutely no where near 6.35 million. Barrie has a ton of offensive upside, although his advanced stats show he's a terrible defender (mostly true), he's actually improved a ton under Woodcroft and was a solid defender in the playoffs. If you're basing his defensive skills off of his career +/- you should just leave this thread. Horrible stat to use that means nothing. Not to mention Monahan's contract is 1.85 aav more.</div></div>
I mean if we are talking expected goals for versus against, he also, has never been a positive either, so I am struggling to understand what you are missing in that category? If you put him out there for 60 minutes, the expectation is that he will get scored on more than his line scores. How does that "offensive upside" outweigh his defensive shortcomings?

Hes a career dash player that is 31 years old, and making a lot of money on a team that is 6M over the cap, how is he not?

Dvorak
One injury blows an absolute hole through this team, plus adding $4.5M over the next 2 when you have 7 players on the roster that need new contracts next year and only one of them is likely to make less than they currently are. Also, did you waive Ben Meyers?

Even players that have value, other GM's know that they have to move them. Look at McDonaugh out of Tampa and Paccioretty out of Vegas, no offense but they are leaps and bounds better than Kerfoot or Muzzin.

Based off the reports of what CAL had to give up to get Monahan off the books, there is going to be nothing going back in a Barrie deal.

Deadline sellers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Elmo</b></div><div>They just got Bjorkstrand and Burakovsky. Seem like buying moves to me.</div></div>
Their pick in the draft is probably ~8-12 this year, with Bjorkstrand (a cap dump) and Burakovsky out of free agency, they arent making huge splashes and giving up on building their prospect pool. In an absolutely stacked draft class where players that will be going in the early teens could have been top 5 this year, it does not at all make sense for them to be giving up on that.

If Monahan returns fully healthy this year, this is a brutal deal to dump his cap, I agree. Kadri isnt playing with Mackinnon and Makar anymore.

Well, they are $3M over the cap with moving him, so, unless they want to forfeit games and picks, they have to figure that out. I know the forfeiting games wouldnt hurt to bad in a tank for Bedard race with CHI, however, you violate the cap and you lose picks as well.

I dont think Laf demands that much on his next deal, based off performance I would have him in more of the 2-3 year 2.75-3.25M range, I guess if you are trying to lock him up for a little longer that may make sense.

If you could get his caliber D for a 2nd round pick, go and flip 2 D-men (Dumba, Kulikov) and youd gain 8.25 against the cap and certainly get more than a second's worth of value back.
