If I had a nickel every time detroit traded for and subsequently signed a mid 20s goaltender coming off a late but albeit impressive rookie season (despite less than half a season of playing time) playing behind a strong defense with the intent of making him their new starter... I'd have two nickels. But it's weird that it happened twice. In a row

(MTL/DET) - Verbeek + 2021 5th round pick for Merrill
plus/minus in a vacuum is kinda useless. However when you are the one defenseman with a positive plus/minus on one of the worst teams in the league, it can tell you a lot about the player. And the underlying numbers (for the most part) back this up. Good pick up. Should be an upgrade on kulak for their top 6.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>VastBluepuppy424</b></div><div>JBB Finally knows how to trade without overpaying, *Check notes* Wait they trade a 4th for Lashoff... At least we got 25% of Savard Contract
Everyone vote Detroit to win because they got a 4th for nothing</div></div>
A first and a third for a defensive defensemen who's actual defensive game is below average at best?? He's a good (to great) system player but not one to fill in the gaps should the system falter. The tell-all is in the corsi. The only player currently in their lineup I'd put savard in over is Ben Thomas. I feel like people are confusing his physical presence with actual good defense.

(FLA/CHI) - Hinostroza for Morrison
i don't see why everyone thinks the hawks won. Morrison has steadily improved each year and is younger (currently almost a point per game player in the AHL this year with obviously a minimal sample size.) Hinostroza has been on a steady decline for 2 years now and wasn't cracking the panthers linuep with 3 guys on the IR. I say slight win to the panthers honestly

yeah lol I was trying to be sarcastic haha.. I've seen so many ridiculously confident takes about mid to low end draft picks when in reality we likely won't know anything for a couple of years at least.

Spitballing with the Jets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Rosolovic can be easily better then Strome? Ummm, not sure where you're gathering that idea from, there is a pretty big gap there and Rosolovic is at best a 3rd liner at this point in his career, don't see him being much more then that. Strome is clearly a 2C. The difference in picks is #17 to #10; 7 spots.</div></div>
Roslovic is playing sheltered minutes in a deep Winnipeg forward group where he wasn’t being looked to as a primary scoring option. He’s also developed a stellar two way game and has improved steadily. Strome is obviously the better player right now but far more inconsistent. I certainly don’t think the gap between them justifies giving up ehlers and vesalainen for debtincat and Keith AND moving down in the draft

IDK, just spitballing here</div></div>
Really don’t think the jets would do that. Ehlers is better than debrincat, roslovic could easily end up being better than strome. Keith is in his late 30s and don’t think adds that much value. On top of that Winnipeg’s first is shockingly ahead of Chicago’s cuz playins. So yeah would be massive win for hawks but not sure how it could happen
