A Step in the Right Direction
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Samsoc22</b></div><div>I like this a lot, but idk if Vegas would want to do that trade tbh. At surface value it looks like they are giving up a bit too much for Provy</div></div>
Chychrun went for #12 overall and two seconds. Lindholm went for a first, two seconds, and two players. I think he’s not far behind - especially since he has plenty of term left on his deal. And the first rounder from Vegas is a very late pick.

Some Thoughts for Next Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fly_iggles_fly</b></div><div>I don't think what you did here is terrible, I think you're a bit low on Provorov, who I think is likely to get more in the $6.5M range. I don't think Minnesota would do that deal. I'd think they'll be looking for more immediate help than this. A 2021 1st round pick isn't likely to help them until 2022 or 2023. Hard to imagine that being acceptable to them. Also don't understand why you have Schlemko starting but $5M+ in unused cap space. Any dman who couldn't crack Montreal's lineup won't be starting for my team. Also I'd prefer to go a different route than Subban, but I won't be shocked or upset if we do end up with him.</div></div>
I used Lindell's contract with Dallas as a general gauge for Provy. I don't think Fletcher would go higher in cap hit for that long term right now - since Ivan has been pretty inconsistent the past two years; if anything, I could see a shorter-term bridge deal.
Had to go with the 2021 1st rounder to MIN (since we'd need the 2020 to sign Kapanen to the offer sheet). I added an additional 3rd rounder in 2019 to make up for that extra year and hopefully entice them enough.
Also - not many FA defensemen that would sign for <$5M. Remember - need room for next year to sign Patrick/Myers/potentially Hart. Not a terrible 6th guy, but could replace with Brennan/Morin if you want. No team is gonna be perfect - but think this is a step in the right direction.

Have to hope that part of his game can continue to develop. He's still young, so a possibility.

3 trades to solve everything
You're significantly underpaying Johnsson, Kapanen, and Stralman in order to make this work. Not very realistic. EK doesn't make much sense for this team, either.

Immediate Contenders
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>If I were GM, I'd want more since I'm really not a fan of Rubtsov at all. Zucker's value was at an all-time low at the trade deadline and there was a trade in place to send Zucker to Calgary for their 1st + Frolik. With Zucker heating up post-deadline, his value is on the rise. So using the Calgary "trade" as a bade, think that if Philly wants him, it'll cost them either Konecny or their 2019 1st round pick + a prospect like Rubtsov. I could also see us pushing for Morgan Frost. Realistically, I'm not sure Fletcher would want to move any of those pieces for Zucker...</div></div>
I struggle with giving up the OHL's leading scorer for a top 9 forward. To me, Frost is untouchable right now, unless Fletcher gets absolutely blown away with an offer. Rubtsov/Laberge/Bunnaman/Ratcliffe and a 1st (preferably, 2021) would be fine with me.

Trade Deadline
Tampa is going to need to free up some cap space to re-sign Point. Thought process is that they'd much rather slide back from late first round to early third pick than to lose Point.
Simmonds gets you a first on his own. Taking on Horton's contract and sending them a solid goalie (albeit when healthy) gives them a huge boost for the playoffs and allows them to contend with TBL. This is Toronto's last chance before they have to start paying everyone (Matthews, Marner, Johnsson, Kapanen). May be willing to get an extra first for that reason.

How do you figure that? Short-term, we definitely can. These deals, along with Mac and Lehtera, all come off the books as Lindblom, Patrick, TK, Provorov all need new deals.

2019-2020 Hoping the roster looks like this.
Not a fan of the bottom 6 (outside of Frost, assuming he keeps developing). Need more production. Simmonds doesn't stick around for 5.5M/year and, even if he does, I'm not paying a 3rd liner that much $$$.

Morin is never going to make it to the bigs in this city with guys like Sanheim, Myers, Hagg, Provorov, Ghost, etc. in front of him, and he's not the A prospect he once was (slow development). Plus, the 1st round pick is practically a 2nd rounder (hopefully).

(its semantics im just curious)</div></div>
Shorter term than Shattenkirk’s contract, but also gives Carlson opportunity to play for another big contract while still in prime of his career (whereas he would be 32-33 at the end of a longer-term deal). Would have to believe he would sacrifice 1/2 years of term to come to a team on the upswing and one that is really close to contending.

I have a feeling that Vegas take Neuvirth or one of the younger guys, so giving them a draft pick may incentivize them to take Raffl instead, given our logjam on the wings.

Ron Hextall would be run out of town if he ever took that deal. Simmonds is one of the most valuable contracts in the NHL, so you'd have to add significant value to get him.
