That Domi deal is interesting. Really worth considering.

This is stupid, big big overpayment for Montreal. And I am a big fan of Meier, it tells you how much of an overpay it is.

For the MTL trade, I don't think this is the value between the players but the age gap between Domi and Letang. If Domi is trade, it will be for a very good prospect or an established player in the same age group.

I don't think I'm crazy on Danault's value. Look at what Kapanen brought to the Leafs. 15 OA + Hallander. Considering Danault is a C, and he is getting in discussion for Selke, perhaps he'll be Selke finalist in a year or two, I think he is worth at the very minimum as much as Kapanen. Obviously, there should an agreement for a long term deal implied, but still. Danault's value is more than just a 1st.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jimbo1119</b></div><div>Can't blame the Habs for trying to extract as much value as possible out of Danault....but let them get that value from another org...for now the Rangers would be much better off signing Strome to a 1 yr deal before arb- to temporarily fill 2C...until Chytl at 3C is ready to take 2C reigns...all the while keeping the assets mentioned in this trade. Best trade partner for MTL is a team in "win now" mode...Rangers not there yet...and any mention of Lundqvist or Miller is certainly not happening.</div></div>
I agree here, I don't see a fit between NYR and MTL for that type of trade. However, I don't think I'm crazy on Danault's value. Look at what Kapanen brought to the Leafs. 15 OA + Hallander. For MTL, there should be a bigger prospect involved in a trade for Danault. Lundqvist or Miller at the very least.

Assuming CAR would accept a deal like this, you probably would need to take a salary out of CAR. Perhaps Niederreiter or Gardiner.

Yeah I do agree here. I don't think Domi is worth a top 10 pick. A mid to late first is more realistic.

I feel like in MTL, he would be under Danault, Kotkaniemi and Suzuki in the C depth chart. Therefore he could be more useful at LW on either Suzuki's or KK's line.

Valid point. I believe he'll be signed short term but maybe a bit north of 4 millions $.

To be honest, I don't think the return in a Domi deal could be less than the Kapanen trade. It's a first, plus a quality prospect. Or an equivalent roster player.
If it is not Brodin, I assume my proposal is pretty fair, isn't it?

Totally understand that from a WPG perspective. Reason why I think it would need an overwhelming offer to MTL to let Danault leave, therefore unlikely to happen.
