Johansson is a great PP guy. He was first unit for years when he was on the Caps and they had the best powerplay in the game. He's not going to score a ton of goals since he only has one 20 goal season in his career. He's probably going to be about a 15 goal guy who can add another 30-40 assists if he gets a lot of 1st PP unit time.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BuFfaLOFaN</b></div><div>Kinda far off from best lines IMO... Johansson should be 3-4th line preferably 3rd. Vesey can be 1st line winger...or Tage, Mittlesdat should be #2 Center with Sam as the winger. Goalies switched and Larsson in for Girgensons and it not horrible. Also Dahlin won't play with Risto, it will be Montour or Miller ... Montours injured rn...U got Eichs, Skinny, Victor, Dahlin, Rodri, and Okposo right.</div></div>
Johansson is not a 4th line player. He's good middle-six guy. Probably a third liner on a stacked team, but on Buffalo he should be playing on the second line.

I agree. Save Skinner-Eichel-Johansson for late game situations when you need a goal. Otherwise, Johansson would be best suited on that second line.

Caps aren't moving Tom Wilson. It took them forever to find a winger who could keep up with Ovechkin.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JayBeagleFanAccount</b></div><div>The caps need to clear as much cap as possible. Ovi and Vrana expiring after the 2021 season.</div></div>
Ok, then you make those moves the following offseason. There's no point in gutting depth when you don't need to yet. It would be irresponsible for the Caps to go into a season with over $10mil in salary cap space. They can make salary cap moves the next offseason if they need to.

There's no need to make any of these trades next year, especially if Holtby leaves....

Lol no way dude. If it's six, it's $8-10mil. If it's 2 years, maybe $6mil.

The Caps are not taking that deal in a million years when they could just extend Holtby (who's better than Murray). And Bjugstad for Kreider makes no sense for the Rangers.

I'd love to see McMichael get a few game sin. He looked really good on Monday. I'm excited to see him work with Hags and Panik tonight and maybe get a little powerplay time with some of the big boys.

What would Jets have to add to get Carlson?</div></div>
The Caps would not give up Carlson unless it was an insane overpayment by the Jets, and then there would be no point of making the trade.

Still Got It
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Maybe for Svechnikov?
Like... Oshie and a 2nd for Svechnikov and Necas.
The Caps have Ovechkin signed through next year. The other perennial 30 goal threat on the team is just about untradeable.
When a guy is on pace for his second thirty goal season in two years, but injuries keep him to 25, you don't have to tell anybody he's still got anything. If anything, Oshie has finally found a center who can pass to him, in Nick Backstrom, has stopped being asked to sacrifice his body to screen the goalie at evens, is getting to skate with the puck and make plays, and is playing the best hockey of his career.
Still got it?
Caps might not trade Oshie for Marner right now.</div></div>
Oshie for Svechnikov is not happening in a million years oh my god. I don't care if you throw in a 2nd. That's so far off on value it's insane.

eta: could also make that same offer for Jenner. Not picky. :)</div></div>
Hagelin just re-signed to a four year deal. There's no way the Caps are trading him.

I'm okay with it. Panik has some offensive upside. And they have literally no forward prospects who are close to NHL ready.

Yeah, considering Nylander got $6.9mil a season, and Marner is better, $6.5mil is a joke

GOURDE FOR FAULK
I actually think the trade makes some sense, but the problem is that Tampa has a logjam at D already after signing Shattenkirk. It would be nice for Tampa to get that salary flexibility next season with Sergachev needing a new deal and Vasilevskiy's new deal kicking in.
