I didn’t think TOR would give them up for cheap either but I mean hey, some fans just want to give them away lol 😂

Pretty good dealing here I like the moves. Only issue is JT in that 2 hole, not sure he’s the answer in playoffs

Pass on Hirvonen, Villeneuvre or Voit.
Your option of... "Or something along the lines of the BOS 1st, NYI 3rd (2024) and Fraser Minten." would do it in my mind.
The BOS 1st could steal someone good and Minten is a nice prospect. Loving those big CDN kids, especially the talented hockey playing kind.
That works for WPG.

Lowry is too valuable to let go for a late 1st. The 2nd is okay.
Make it Lowry for the BOS 1st, the MIN 2nd and... a good prospect. Not sure how TOR has in Junior or the AHL that's ready to jump the NHL.

Next Year
I think Kampf gets over 3m a year. I think he gets 3.25m x 4 or 5 years. Bunting will probably go for 4.25-4.75m x 5.
I really like that 4th line. I am hopeful they bring back ZAR though.
Regardless which route they go, this team looks solid again next year.

Love Fiala and don't disagree with the timeline thing but Holtz is something the Devils simply do not have and have been looking for for years (I mean, they drafted him over better players in my opinion for that reason). Just can't see them moving him for a player who is very similar to Nico/Bratt/Jack
Not to say they shouldn't try to get Fiala - they should. Just don't think Holtz/Mercer/2nd overall is the piece they move for him.

Holtz or 2 OA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bagelbob</b></div><div>most fans want a lowball offer bc they see minny is in a really tough cap situation and fiala is almost certainly on the way out, which lowers his value as we’ve seen in the past. trades like buchnevich and devon toews were terrible but all were born of this specific situation. i’m very curious to see what it ends up being, but i don’t think his value is holtz/2OA high</div></div>
Yeah I think that’s exactly right, but honestly, this feels like a different situation. Because the Wild do have alternatives if they wanted to. It doesn’t have to be Fiala. It’s Fiala because they think they can get the most value from him IMO. They could easily dump Dumba for a 3/4th round pick and clear cap to re-sign him for 1 year. MN isn’t backed into a corner like many fans think. MN can move Zucc as well. Or Foligno, Greenway, Jost, Kulikov. There is a way to make it happen to keep Fiala. It just feels like Billy has a good idea of what he’s going to get and it’s fairly high. Otherwise I don’t think Fiala being traded would be as high as it is. And I’ll also add that’s it’s Billy G. He somehow managed to get a 2nd round pick for McBain when he was going to lose him for nothing in a few months. And he’s held firm on his ask for Dumba thus far (could change if people force him to keep Fiala). I have a hard time believing Billy G is going to get fleeced.

Most fans don’t want to give up anything “painful” to get Fiala. They kinda just want him for a low ball offer. The alternative always seems to be go big game hunting in FA but that’s no certainty and likely much more expensive. Fiala at 7.5 mil over 6/7 years compared to what Johnny / Forsburg gets, that might be 2-4 mil per year savings. And you’re not paying for an aging player on the back half of that deal. Fiala at 31/32 would still be productive. Just look at the regret a lot of teams have with signing expensive FAs in their late 20’s.</div></div>

From a Devils perspective, I don’t think either will be on the table.
From Wild perspective, I would guess the pick would be preferred since it would be Cooley or Wright.

Agreed. And that's where this trade becomes more complicated to complete. Is NJD willing to give up that much? What more is Minny willing to add? I personally don't see it happening, but I'll let the GM's do their thing!

He’s part of the GREEF line, one of the best defensive lines in the NHL this season. Don’t think anyone from that line is traded unless someone offers a haul. Foligno is also a huge locker room guy. Mn can (and will) cut cap elsewhere.
Dumba, Fiala, Zuc all more likely.

Players for Picks
You are underselling most of these guys. Kerfoot was top 50 in 5v5 points and makes 3.5 million. The Canucks Garland makes 1.5 more a year produced less and is traded for top prospects and a 1st daily. Holl is a depth defenceman making 2 million who can play 20 minutes a night. That's worth a pile more than a 5th. Engvall is coming off a really good season and is controllable. He's worth more than a 5th as well. Muzzin is likely correct
