wow, somebody who thinks Nolan Patrick can stay healthy? HAHAHAHAHA
Really poor investment there, hes sat out an entire yr, tanked in PHI upon his return and then hit the Vegas LTIR/IR four times last year. Hes probably a worse investment than Kase.
get ready to watch Rask play 60+ games.
The last THREE seasons: 77 games, 16 pts, -29.
Never mind that goaltending....

Making the Senators a wild card team
Not really any reason for the Leafs to do this, its a loss all around. Trading a positive value player for a negative value one while taking on close to double the cap. There's nothing they are winning at in this deal.

Marchment could get close to $4m on the open market-- that's a lot of money left on the table to stay in FLA. I think he cashes in on his career year and plays elsewhere next season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Knuckl3s</b></div><div>Sure about that? Sabres shouldn't be trying to rush anybody</div></div>
Both guys are practically point per game players in the AHL, they would be wasting their time spending most of the season down there at this point. I’m sure the plan is that one or both of them will make the team in camp this year. Either way expect to see both in a Sabres uniform at least at some point during the season. I very much doubt the Sabres are even considering re-signing Will Butcher by the way.
I only just noticed that you think they will make zero effort to improve their goaltending situation this season. Considering you think they’ll pick up $12 million in IR contracts to stay at the floor instead of paying for a goaltender for the season that doesn’t make a lot of sense. If Anderson is retiring they would only bring Tokarski back for the AHL, and that’s where he pretty much belongs. They can use some of that money you think they’re just taking on for free to pay for a goaltender for a year or two.

Gibson is an ELITE goalie... for the first dozen games each season. After that, he's an AHLer.

Just call him Mr. October. Not the kind of goalie any team with playoff aspirations should look twice at. And he gets $6.4M too - that's a significant chunk of cap to risk on a goalie with a very poor track record.

I am hoping Campbell resigns in Toronto for like $4,000,000 per year.......I think he is a bit of an injury risk so may have to let him walk.
I like Mikheyev but think he is a bit over-rated and think his value is more like $2,400,000.......I find he is a non-factor in playoffs .....so okay if he walks as well.

A Realistic In Depth Off Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>As far as Kubalik, CHI will tender an offer, (especially since its so cheap), so even if he does find his way to TOR, it wont be free.
And your signings/re-signings are pretty good, but I just dont see a team better than 21-22. Its basically the same team, with some of the same issues:
Age: In 21-22 Toronto was the 10th oldest team in the league, in the playoffs/end of season they got older with clifford/giordano. Still have dependency on Spezza, Muzzin, Simmonds, Clifford.
Unreliable commodities: Kase surpassed expectations last season by actually playing more than a few dozen games, but hes a concern every game. The bottom 6 dont have tons of firepower. Kallgren is not a good backup (3.31 GAA and .888 save %). Very unlikely that robertson/abrueze/kubalik replace Kerfoot/Spezza/Mikheyev in production or two way play.
Im not calling for an overhaul, but this is really the 21-22 team without Mikheyev, Kerfoot, Holl with really just the addition of Kubalik and (hopefully) the arrival of Robertson/Abrueuze.</div></div>
This season's team was a coin flip away from the eastern conference final. I would say running it back is a wise plan. I think Mikheyev is likely gone but his 2 empty net goals and nothing else in 7 games may hurt his contract a bit so maybe he is still affordable. I think Kase is likely gone. His health is is just too unpredictable and I think you can find a better 4th liner who hits or kills penalties.
Calling the team old is rich though. All the heavy lifters, beyond JT (who is still a great player) are under 30. I guess you can say Brodie is pretty major as well. Simmonds, Spezza and Gio lift the average but have proven to be capable in their roles still.

Why does Arizona give up anything for Holl.....and then you expect a UFA RHD Lubyushkin to sign for just 1.75m.
Those UFA signings are certainly favour the Leafs way too much in $$$$ and term.

What don't you like about the trades? I think they're all fair - a 2nd for Holl might seem like a lot, but Arizona has 3 of them this year and they're right side is useless.</div></div>
Re: Arizona-Sure, their right side is bad, but what's their motivation to trade anything of any sort of value for a guy who will be a UFA after next season? The likelihood of getting more for him at the deadline than a 2nd is prettttttty low. Might as well keep the pick and sign a UFA.
Re: Chicago-Muzzin has a full NTC, and is playing for his hometown team. There's literally zero motivation for him to waive that.

Two of the popular ways to create cap space on CF. Trade NTC or even M NTC players to lousy teams with cap. Place a player on LTIR.

LOL agreed. There is no way Tavares moves to wing and if Giordano is going to play anywhere cheap next year, it's back in Calgary.
The only way the Leafs get better is if they get rid of Tavares and spend that money on defense and goaltending.

You're underrating him. This goes far beyond points. He is a very good 3rd liner who can play extremely effective PK minutes. He is also an RFA keeping him controlled. That goes well above your revised value of a 4th. Not saying he'd get a 1st or anything but you're still undervaluing him.

For cap space
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoreHitzSeider</b></div><div>Palhal, you're one of the most knowledgeable Leaf fans on CFACGM. But this makes no sense. I understand you wanting the Leafs to balance the roster out. Nylander is a luxury. Not a necessity.
But I think Mrazek can be traded. It won't be easy. But few people thought Ritchie could be moved and Dubas pulled that off. As others have said, a buyout is possible. I just think you're short changing Willy's value here.
He could definitely get more value in a trade.</div></div>
He’s been saying to move Nylander for pure cap space for so long.. wouldn’t exactly call that a smart user at all. And this is by far the worst deal I’ve ever seen. Imagine thinking having to use a point per game player on a good contract as a sweetener to move $3.8m in cap for 2 years.. ridiculous.
