Cuz Miky, Podz and the 6th are doing nothing for the team right now.

Vancouver getting Kessel
Getting Phil Kessel would be doing this team a disservice.
They DO NOT need a 36 year old egotistical winger who hasn't played in months.
There is a reason that he is unsigned.

Maybe, but he costs nothing and has a ton of playoff experience (105 G ), most of it with Pittsburgh.
The Canucks can take a chance on him, they can waive him if it doesn't work out.
What is Duhaime worth with 50% retention?

adding other elements
Mikheyev is not a physical player. Speed is his element, but I think physical play will be more important than speed going forward.
I don't know exactly what a fair price for Anderson is, with retention, but I do think he is exactly the type of forward the Canucks need.
For me it's tough to suggest losing Friedman, I think his surprisingly good play saved the Canucks season.

Greenway won't be there in 1-2 years.

Fischer and O'Brian are there to add something the Canucks will need in the playoffs, truculence. Miller, Joshua, Lafferty and Zadorov will need all the help they can get and you really don't want those players in the penalty box, in fact if I was an NHL coach I would forbid Dmen from fighting, except in the most extenuating circumstances. I'm not sold on either Podkolzin or Raty at this point in their careers.

Kuz why not

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Warpbox</b></div><div>Absolutely not on that Chicago trade. 0 reason to give up Brzustewich</div></div>
Kuz and Brzu for a second gives the Canucks the cap space and the ability to trade the '24 first for Lindholm and still have a reasonable pick in that draft.
I'd do Kuz and Brzu straight up for Lindholm but I'm not sure that Calgary would. The Flames need cap space too.
The Hawks get to reach the floor next season and get a good player with not much term plus a really good prospect.
The Flames get 4 really good prospects and a first for Lindholm. The 4th is for Lyle, sorta.
I'm not real sure about CBJ deal, but just thought I'd see if I could clear some cap space for next season. Perhaps to re-sign Lindholm?
The Canucks get Lindholm and are able to keep a decent pick in the 2024 draft.
Lindholm will be expensive but I think he is worth it.
There aren't many players out there that fill as many of the Canucks needs as Lindholm.
I'd do the trade before the Canucks get too far into this next MUCH harder part of the season.
While the Canucks have a cushion they shouldn't be planning to rest on it.

I don't know why Chicago wouldn't make that trade.
Kuzmenko is as good as, if not better than, every Chicago forward, with exception of Bedard.

I believe that he is worth a 2nd, but because the Canucks don't have 2024 2nd, I've improved the offer to a 1st, but need something else coming back. I might be convinced to take Montreal's 2025 4th instead.

I agree that it is an overpay but how else do you convince someone to give up a player that they would like to keep?
Another aspect of this deal is that it provides some affordable protection if Pettersson decides not to re-sign with the Canucks.

I'm not quite sold on the still unsigned Brzustewicz yet but I must admit he looks promising.
This would also clear up some very valuable cap space while make the team better.
Jenner is the captain of the team and an all-star
"Pure pro. Plays the game the right way. Prepares. Competes.
Wins over 58% of his draws..
Leads by example. Solid second line center who isn't an elite scorer but produces better than secondary offense."
