why swap a left-handed winger for another winger left-handed winger....damnit we already got a ton of those. Is it too hard to use a valuable asset like Chucky to fill our weaknesses? Bergefail at it again.

man for 7 years i expected Kane to sign between 5 and 6m.
This is far too much money AND he also has a no trade list of 27 teams? bad contract.

Go Caps go!!!
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Great game. Can't believe they shut out Tampa in game seven. Talk about a team with some offense.
People tease me for how often I stick up for Brooks Orpik being not awful. He's +15 right now. Marchessault and Guentzel are tied for second at +10. <a href="http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?reportType=season&seasonFrom=20172018&seasonTo=20172018&gameType=3&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=plusMinus" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?reportType=season&seasonFrom=20172018&seasonTo=20172018&gameType=3&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=plusMinus</a>
He's also fifth in shot blocks (Niskanen is first): <a href="http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?report=realtime&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20172018&seasonTo=20172018&gameType=3&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=blockedShots" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?report=realtime&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20172018&seasonTo=20172018&gameType=3&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=blockedShots</a>
And he's fifth in hits, with three Capitals ahead of him: <a href="http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?report=realtime&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20172018&seasonTo=20172018&gameType=3&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=hits" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?report=realtime&reportType=season&seasonFrom=20172018&seasonTo=20172018&gameType=3&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=hits</a>
People have spent all year telling me that these intangible stats do not matter. I think by game seven, Tampa was feeling them.</div></div>
Orpik is doing a really fine job but his contract will most likely force the caps to move him this summer in order to re-sign their guys.
I really hope the Caps crushes the Knights.

nah mate i put Veleno because i like him alot, idc if it ends up being Kupari, Mcleod or Lunderstorm etc...
Theres so much more to comment on than a pick difference of 5 ranks honestly....

Bruh you are going to randomly pick a center when it's our biggest need?
Shaw might never play again after all his concussions and his over-paid for what he does, idk who told you Calgary wanted him but i doubt it.
Benn isn't a bad contract and i said "your asking way too much for those bad contract".....yea i wasnt including Benn.
Schlemko dosen't even gets you a 6th round pick, he's an AHL level d-man based on how poorly he played last year.
2.625m Alzner would probably only get you like a third round pick given he's a bottom pairing defensive guy. Retaining 2m dosen't really make it worth it imo.

Way too much for RNH.
Only way BUF agrees is if the pick is top-5 otherwise the value is way off. And then if the pick is top-5 it's a huge loss for us.
don't see what u like so much.

Rinne isn't being traded
It's not necessary that Rinne gets traded but it is necessary that Saros gets to start at least half of the games next year.
Helleybuck played 26 games in 2015-2016 then 56 last season and 67 this year. This is what Saros path should look like, becoming the starter in 2019-20.

Well maybe Neuvirth would be better for that.
If Rinne were to get traded, it has to be to either Philly or Isles (if jt stays). other than those two there really isnt a fit anywhere else. Maybe Carolina?
Let me this tho: i have 0 trust in Elliott. Ever since leaving Saint-Louis things have gone bad for him.

You trade two left wingers for a center and d-man....did you even consider the jackets needs? Btw 5 year at 5 m for Murray?! that's waaaaaaay too much.
Karl Alzner wouldn't even get us a 7th round pick at this point.

Seriously, a rebuild wouldn't be that bad
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Truebeliever</b></div><div>You forget, there are more "Melnyk" owners in the NHL than TMLs and MSGs. Weber's cap is $7.85, but his cash out is now $6, soon to be $3M then $1M.
At the moment, sure, $8M is a hefty contract for a top-4 Dman, but not crazy. What's important to note is that his cash cost is only $6M. In 3 years, as the cap and the floor keep rising, Weber's cash cost drops to $3M then $1M, but he helps any team comply with the cap floor. Those teams can trade him and retain 50% of the cap. Do you not think there will be teams wanting Weber for a Cup run if the cap hit is <$4M? And, if he retires, the cap hit goes back to Nashville.
2018-19 $7,857,143 $6,000,000
2019-20 $7,857,143 $6,000,000
2020-21 $7,857,143 $6,000,000
2021-22 $7,857,143 $6,000,000
2022-23 $7,857,143 $3,000,000
2023-24 $7,857,143 $1,000,000
2024-25 $7,857,143 $1,000,000
2025-26 $7,857,143 $1,000,000</div></div>
oh quit it with the cap floor argument....if we trade Weber to a cap team to help them reach the floor(aka arizona) we are going to get what in return? a 4th round pick maybe?
You're not trading Weber in that scenario, your just trading financial numbers. In a hockey deal no teams would touch Weber's contract to get better and win a cup
