Sure, go see your boss and tell him you're ready to work for a fraction of what you're worth. Unless you don't work and live in your mom's basement.
This is so unrealistic.

Fair enough.
I guess they can also look at acquiring someone at the deadline when there's less $ left to be paid to fill the spot of #1 if they need to.

That's another matter altogether.
Who would be your centers playing 1st and 2nd lines if Bergeron retires and Krejci leaves or regresses?
You have a great team but you need to fill these 2 massive holes if they aren't coming back.

Yeah, I see no point in Mtl giving away assets and picks to get him. They aren't contenders this year and they can get him for free next year if he's really sold on playing for the team. If he's not, there's already Suzuki and Dach at center so it's not as if he's absolutely needed. Either him or Dach would have to play wing.

Are you high?
RHP won't make close to 5m$
Detroit won't take Gally's contract and I doubt Gally lift his no trade unless it's to go home or to a contender
Montreal doesn't need to put over 3m$ on another LD as they have a ton already and they also don't need to invest that much money in Rodrigues
Vancouver isn't trading Podkolzin, especially not for Fabbry
And 5m$ for a backup like Brossoit?
There's not a single thing up there that's worth looking into

I dont see this happening But this would be fun to see
Yeah... That's not happening.
You're not getting the 2nd overall for 2 aging vets on bad contract and a backup goalie.
You want that pick?
It will cost you either Calgary's or Florida's 1st round pick (if not both), a young D like Romanov or Barron, a young F like Poehling or Ylonen, your top prospect (Guhle) + at least another ok prospect and a roster player on a respectable contract.
Even then, they might not be willing to do it.
They are looking for younger players who can help right now and can grow with the current core if they are trading that pick.
Sending Petry and Gallagher as the main part of your trade isn't doing anything for them, apart from messing up their cap space.

You want Kaprizov? Offer them Matthews 'cause there's no way they trade him for Nylander.

'Cause that's kind of what you're asking them to do with Kaprizov vs Nylander.

Lol
You'll have to pay a 1st round just to get rid of Mrazek's contract. Your not getting anything in return.
More realistic trade would be:
1st (toronto) + Mrazek vs 7th round pick.
You're not getting any value back for someone taking that contract.

So, it isn't ridiculous.</div></div>
What is a Performance Bonus?
A Performance Bonus can be given to a player in addition to their salary. Performance bonuses are only paid to the player if they meet the requirements as defined by the bonus. Performance bonuses count against the salary cap; however, a team can exceed the salary cap due to performance bonuses by the maximum performance bonus cushion amount of 7.5 percent of the upper limit. Not all players are eligible for Performance Bonuses, and to receive a bonus within their contract, a player must meet one of the following criteria:
1.The player is on an entry-level contract.
2.The player has signed a one-year contract and is over 35 years old.
3.The player has signed a one-year contract after returning from a long-term injury (has played 400 or more games, and spent 100 or more days on the Injured Reserve in the last year of their most recent contract).
Bergeron signing for 2 years wouldn't be eligible as per point #2.
Contract has to be 1 year for it to be eligible.

Until they make the NHL and produce, Guhle and Farrell are also gambles.
What if Guhle tops as a 5th dman and Farrell never makes the team?
Not saying this is what is going to happen but you never know with prospects.
You have the opportunity to get the 2nd overall pick for a mid/late 1st round prospect + a 4th round prospect, you think about it.
Remember when Reway was producing in the Q and when he dominated the U20 in Mtl at an 18yo?
Some people were calling him a sure thing and a steal as a 4th round pick.
Remember when some called Rivet, Souray and I can't even remember who was the other one the next "big 3", comparing them to Savard, Robinson and Lapointe?
Guhle and Farrell sure look good now but, until they do it in the NHL, they are still gambles.

Petry to Dallas makes sense, especially if they lose Klingberg.
Taking on Khudobin's contract back would help the trade do through.
Not sure they'd give Dellandrea though as they'll need cheap prospect ready to come in soon. Most likely trading for Petry vs picks.
Washington just traded Vrana and a 1st for Mantha, not sure they'd let him go for Hoffman and a couple of picks since.
Also, he hasn't pan out in Detroit or Washington. I'm not sure I'd want to take on his contract considering Mtl already have overpaid and under producing guys on the lineup.
Both Hoffman and Mantha have 2 years left. At this point, I'd prefer to save the 1.2mil per year with Hoffman instead of retaining half and having to end up paying 3.5mil extra to get Mantha.

Best offseason
Petry isn't going to Detroit.
They are in a rebuild and do not need him.
And, if for some crazy reason they'd want him, they aren't giving up Zadina for him.
Doubt Forsberg signs for 2 years with a rebuilding team.
Signing the injury prove Letang, who's 35, to a 5 year deal is asking for trouble.
Giving 15mil to Letang and Forsberg while going with a Holtby/Allen tandem in the net doesn't make much sense to me.
If you're in a rebuild, don't give huge contracts to older free agents.
If you sign free agents to be competitive, get a goaltender who isn't a question mark.
This is the worst of both options and is a receipe for disaster.

Trade
The NJ trades needs to AT LEAST be (if Caufield or Suzuki aren't included):
1st Calgary
Guhle
Romanov or Barron or Farrell
Another 'b' prospect
Young roster player with a reasonable contract (Evans, Poehling, Pitlick)
So, you'd basically need to add at least Guhle to your offer and maybe swap Farrell for Romanov or Barron depending on what they prefer. You might also have to swap Mailloux to someone else depending on what they are looking for and if they want to take on his 'history' or not.
Considering they seem to want cheap players who can play right now, your most like chance to make it work would be:
1st Calgary
Guhle
Romanov
Ylonen or Harris
Pitlick
And, even then, it's probably not enough.

Mrazek to NSH Granlund to TOR Holl to FLA
So....
The Leafs trade an overpaid, injury proned backup, a 3rd pair dman and a middle 6 player for a better and cheaper middle 6 player, a crazy physical 3rd pair dman and a starting goaltender who was in discussion all year for both the Vezina and the MVP...
Sure... That's not one-sided at all.
Hint: you'll have to PAY someone to get rid of Mrazek's salary. They won't give you a better and cheaper goalie in return.

Glass, although he hasn't panned out to this point, still has potential. I doubt Nashville trades him + a pick to get Drouin.
This makes no sense for them.
Detroit picking up Petry also doesn't make much sense.
They aren't in a position to win now. Petry will get traded to a contender if he leaves Montreal.
It also doesn't make sense for Detroit, who have been cleaning up big contracts, to take on one and give up prospects and picks when they are in a rebuild.

Actually, I could see the appeal for Arizona.
They are going to play in a college arena for at least the next 3 years.
Taking on Weber contract helps them reach the salary floor and saves them 25 million of real $ over the next 4 years.
Considering how they won't have much revenues coming in and how many picks they have in the draft, giving a mid round pick to save 25m$ wouldn't be a bad move on their part.
