Could be a cheap UFA, doesn't matter. Talbot is either great or he isn't. Currently playing well now. Guerin trusts him I think so clearly if the team can be at this level now with sub par goaltending I don't see the big issue until the following year

Kaprizov is 24 this spring with 6 years of pro experience. Boldy is finishing his sophomore year at school and Rossi hasn’t even played this year. See any differences between these rookies?

It’s tough to say. Wild don’t historically play rookies opening day unless they’ve absolutely earned it out of camp. Same will go for Rossi. I just bought out Rask to make the cap work

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jnowariak</b></div><div>Gusev at 2 mil would be a no brainer, especially on a short term deal. You should probably pencil in Boldy as the 2/3 line LW.</div></div>
Yup. Too lazy to sign on the reserve list but think Boldy can be a great player. His spot can be JG’s maybe as early as this summer. I’m all in on bringing Gusev here on the cheap though. It makes stupidly good sense and I bet he’d consider it now that he’ll have more limited options compared to his last venture in FA, and that Kaprizov kid might help too..

Schmaltz 4 Dumba
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jnowariak</b></div><div>I think the "fairness" of this deal is driven by the perception that Dumba is an underperforming offensive defenseman that is slightly overpaid, which the analytics don't support since his return in the bubble. Schmaltz is a winger masquerading at C and IS overpaid on a long term deal. I'm willing to listen to Schmaltz being a comparable level player, even if I disagree, but the Wild need to shed his cap hit with any trade.</div></div>
Fair enough. Crazy he got that deal in the first place though I do think he could make it at center, especially between kap and zucc. He’s creative enough and can finish. To me he’s like a quicker, more creative Kunin but could potentially play C more often than not

Thread:
Maybe losing Dumba 21-22
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jnowariak</b></div><div>I think it’s very unlikely he’s exposed to Seattle. He’s got an inconvenient cap hit but he’s still as top pair defenseman and that has value. If the choice is losing Greenway/Soucy or Dumba, you help Greenway/Soucy pack.
PS: I think Gusev is a good fit too.</div></div>
Completely see your reasoning. Some will disagree but I think it’s actually a perfect match for us to expose him and I personally think Seattle would be all over it. True his aav isn’t attractive for a new team’s cap, but how many other high aav players will they be taking? My guess is not a lot. Vegas I know had Fleury as their highest paid pick.
Anyways if I’m Guerin I’m thinking about shedding that 6m to pay for the Kaprizov/Ek/Fiala/Greenway/Kaapo extensions. Also Guerin has done a great job protecting his assets values by publicly saying along the lines of that he’s in no rush to trade Dumba and that he’s a big part of our team. Which is true to a degree. And real important that he wants the guy that he traded for in Addison to get real ice time because he looks pretty damn close to being ready.
If I’m Seattle though I personally think Dumba is exactly who I’d want on my expansion team. His play can be electric at times, he covers an offensive RHD spot that is tough to find, and he’s overall a great guy who’d potentially be one of the faces of the team

Greenway for a C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jrader17</b></div><div>Sorry to have you clutching your pearls haha. It's just obvious whenever you see a trade like this that you're the kind of fan who only watches your team, follows your team, and doesn't know jack about the league at large. I'm sure you'd be thrilled if some Coyotes fan proposed Brodin for a 3rd too.
Also, nice Coyotes chirp! But maybe look in the mirror and realize the Coyotes and Wild have done about the exact same amount of winning in their history. Anyways enjoy your freezing weather and lakes. I'll be by a pool.</div></div>
No doubt the Wild’s history is as bad as anyone’s. But sure, Greenway+3rd maybe doesn’t get a young top 6 center. Not like Dvorak is untouchable and that a deal like that is legitimately laughable. Was like 2 years ago Nino+Zucker for Domi+Dvorak was floating around but passed on by Chayka.
Also better believe I’m watching league games as much as anyone. Best part is I’m doing it in your backyard and getting to golf too. Next time you’re at the pool and hear fore just know I’m all over it

Greenway for a C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheMooterus</b></div><div>I don't mind moving Pavelski, but if the Stars move him they are essentially admitting that they are starting a retool/rebuild, which means they wouldn't have any desire to acquire a 32-year old rental like Bonino. Greenway is okay, but honestly it seems like Wild fans really aren't too high on him. Sounds like he's a middle-6 Power Forward that's had issues putting the puck in the back of the net.
For the kind of season Pavelski is having, Dallas is going to want more for him. They are going to want a 1st & some kind of decent prospect in return. Not saying the Stars are going to want a 1st & Marco Rossi or anything, but one of the 1st Rounders and someone like Calen Addision should very realistically be what Dallas goes for. Without a 1st Round Pick in the deal, you're looking at probably including Matthew Boldy in a deal; a top prospect that is not THE top prospect in the Wild system. Let me know what your thoughts are on one of these two deals; keep in mind this would be the base of the deal. More may or may not be added to flush out the value, but these would be the primary pieces:
:wild
Joe Pavelski
:stars
2021 1st Round Pick (MIN)
Calen Addison
<strong>OR</strong>
:wild
Joe Pavelski
:stars
Matthew Boldy
Nick Bonino (for cap purposes)
2021 2nd Round Pick</div></div>
Solid response. Thanks.
