if this all works
Dallas declines. Rather hold on to the 2024 1st (especially after losing their 2023 1st in the Lundkvist deal) than spend it on a middle-6 winger Dallas doesn't really need.

Trying to be realistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>No, we won't be trading Gabe Vilardi for one year of Connor Hellebuyck.</div></div>
Helle to LA sounds great.
Pretty sure Dubois, Scheifele and Helle are traded with extensions in place. Nobody's gonna trade for them if they aren't sure to get more than 1 season.
In that case, Vilardi + for him would make sense imo.

playoff push next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rookescr96</b></div><div>Ya seems like it likely will be Carlsson. I just love the way Smith plays the highlights he looks so so good. But ya Carlsson seems like the most likely pick</div></div>
Gotta watch the full shift packages. Smith is very not engaged on the defensive side of things and his ability to do what he does is inevitably going to be affected by playing against men when he reaches the NHL. Carlsson looks phenomenal in a pro league already.

Who would you rather have
Larkin
Svechnikov
Neither would be ideal, considering cap hit for Klingberg and term for Barrie, but I would probably go Klingberg because of the potential for half retention and it’s only 1 year deal.
Toews/Couture is harder, but Toews is the obvious choice given contract status. 1 year on Toews compared to 5 on Couture, with both being overpaid, it is a relatively easy decision. Not to mention Toews also has cup experience.
Stamkos

NHL version of Olen Zellweger trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BankersBox</b></div><div>Trades of that magnitude rarely happen, 8 draft picks is insane.. Plus it signals a re-tool from TB which might need to happen eventually but i'd be surprised if it started this season.
You could probably include Giarad to TB and remove some on the nonsense to make it a little it more realistic.</div></div>
It's what the Zellweger trade in juniors is equated to in NHL terms

My take on underrated players from each team
Parssinen or Fabbro over Duchene for Nashville. Recently, Fabbro has been driving play for a dormant offense. He’s been incredible. Parssinen got off to that hot start, and has since cooled down, but he’s still been incredibly for a rookie

Liljegren for TOR. Think people are recognizing how good Leafs goalies have been. Maybe not to the full extent but good enough. Liljegren has looked like a reliable top pair D so far this year even if the point totals don't reflect it.
HM: Gio, Holmberg, Murray, Samsonov, Sandin, Kerfoot & Holl & Engvall (though this is many Leafs fans fault for bashing them or trading them here, classic TOR whipping boys)

Underrated in the sense that people don't talk about them much right? Most defence first people can make the list. Hintz totally belongs here!

Who out of this list can turn their career around
Laffy and KK are doing good. Laffy is just heating up and Kakko plays a solid game, just not very many things happen. As a Rangers fan, im happy with both of their development.
Management/Coaching refuse to give Krav a proper shot, and when he did have a chance it just wasn't enough time to get his footing. Hopefully this year hell get some 3rd line minutes

Team of worst analytical players
Aside from one down year Hall is pretty good analytically. Jones, Nurse, Karlsson are all decent analytically now too
Based on 21-22 Id consider putting: Galchenyuk, MacEwen, Gaudette, Kessel, Gambrell, Faksa, Reaves, Kunin, Wheeler, Dekeyser, Necas, Lewis, Nemeth

i could see skinner, comrie or stolarz having a breakout year with very few past starts. martin too, he looked good in really limited action last year. swayman i think is too good already to be on here

what Id expect for a return on Gibson
Gibson is very hard to judge.
He really hasn’t been spectacular for a few years now, but neither has the team in front of him.
So is it worth the gamble?
His contract also makes it super tough.

Caps give you samsonov + second in a heartbeat. I do think Gibson's reputation will raise the price a bit, but not by that much and all of these make much more sense than Gibson for four firsts or whatever else ducks fans have been posting

This seems way more reasonable than some of the other threads I've seen like Nylander, Sandin, Hirvonen, Kerfoot, and a 2nd for Gibson+Comtois lol

Maybe an improvement
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>The Sabres don’t want Mrázek or Holl. They could use a veteran right side defender who is actually good at playing defense, not a liability. And as has been said many times over and apparently needs to continue being said, Mrázek is an over paid sieve. I doubt anyone will be trading for him, and I expect the compensation if they were willing to to be pretty painful for Toronto. I think he gets bought out instead.</div></div>
You’re being a bit too harsh imo
Holl is decent defensively & would be fine on the 3rd pair
Mrazek blows, but we have no AHL goaltenders, so we could bury him there. If he doesn’t like it, he can go play in Europe.

I think Edmonton could do better in a deal for Barrie than that, not with Seattle, imo, but someone could use PPQB
