This definitely makes them a better team.
What do you do about coaching??</div></div>
I think granato stays. Our owner can't get out of his own way, when it comes to the Sabres. When he bought the team, he threw money around without a second thought, but he's become more conservative with the Sabres the last few years. Granato has a three year contract that hasn't started yet, pegula wants the Sabres to be a lean operation. I think what's likely is granato has to throw his assistants into the volcano, then the Sabres will blame the rest of this season on injuries. I can see granato refusing to fire his assistants and getting fired, but that's about it. The Sabres have developed a bad history of looking for coaches with ties to the organization- so if you wanna guess at who the next coach would be, I would say Seth appert (Sabres ahl coach) would be the runaway favorite, with some other former Sabres rounding out the field, i suppose ruff is an option, but we need to stop making the same mistakes over and over again. I don't see a torts or gallant coming here, which is really too bad.

Offseason Rossi Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Danny_MrGM_Briere</b></div><div>Is he that good? Will he be better than a middle 6 player? Laughton can play up and down the lineup and I think the sabres might want the leadership and mentality that he brings for all of the young players. A 4th rounder on top of that too. But again I could be ignorant to how good Ostlund really is because I don't know much about him.</div></div>
If Laughton was gonna get a premium, it would have been done by now. I would rather the Sabres package a couple young prospects and go big game hunting.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Renegade_H</b></div><div>I do not think Flyers can part with both, but I would certainly trade Laughton for Ostlund. Any interest in Risto (retained) if you part with Joki?
Id be open to trading TK but it'd cost you more than a 1 for 1. I probably prefer Savoie or Kulich in this deal, a pick swap this year with FLA's 1st, and a 2nd in 2025. Adding TK to top 6, moving Skinner down to 3rd line for maybe better production... Buffalo could make waves.</div></div>
So we would be trading savoie, pick 9, and a second- for tk and pick 26. He would have to come with a freshly signed extension for that.

Konecny is the guy that sabres fans would want. The Sabres have a skilled group of forwards, but are missing a fair amount of toughness with skill like konecny has. Laughton and Cates are other guys whose names get thrown around, but neither would be more than a throw in for kulich, ostlund, or savoie.

If you retain, you retain for the length of the contract, you can't trade somebody with 4 years left and only say you are retaining on one of the years.

I would say yes, absolutely. That's cheaper than buying Skinner out, and I wouldn't miss jokiharju or Krebs. Necas coming too would just be a bonus.

To be fair, nobody is suggesting we give him away. The return here is- a recent top 5 pick that may be a better fit for the current roster, a center who provides leadership, grit, talent, and a first round pick.

Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>U aren’t gonna find Sabres fans that would agree to this
It’s only mildly possible, bc Sabres mgmt might not think our goaltending has been solidified as of yet
However, UPL was pretty great for most of this season & we do still have high hopes for Levi should UPL struggle
It’s just not a totally insane idea like many will think
Bc it is conceivable we wanna take our time w Levi and 1 year of good play from UPL might not be enough to convince us the goaltending is “all set” moving forward
It is an unlikely idea by you though
If u guys held a couple mil in salary, then it’s maybe a bit more realistic- still a longshot though
What about a team like Jersey or the Leafs even?
I’m sure u guys could move Jarry if u really want to</div></div>
I'm absolutely thrilled that upl was really good this year, and that Levi has quietly gotten a lot better since he went down to Rochester. It means that we can now be excluded from these conversations.

No, for all of the ufas. Girgensons time as a Sabre should be up, he's been here 10 years, it's time to move on. Kane, is gonna wanna go play for a cup contender, not a team just trying to make the playoffs. Amadio seems like an awful idea, we need grit and another option for the pk, he doesn't add either. Can't see pecse coming here, probably gonna look for a team closer to a cup, and I don't think 6x6 is a ton more than he could get from a cup contender. Bryson is worthless, he cleared waivers last year, nobody is looking for undersized left shot puck movers that don't put up offense. Upl won the starting job, ullmark costs more and can walk next summer, not interested. I do kinda like the Columbus trade, think Columbus is overpaying here, but it doesn't matter- there is absolutely no chance the Sabres move power. I'm fine with moving jokiharju, we've got too many puck moving d, would like to get away from being the easiest team in the league to play against.

Samuelsson is a nice piece. I would rather package him with another nice piece (or two), and trade for something really nice. That's pretty much the point of this site- offering quantity for quality (I am however, acknowledging this and saying "with other good pieces").

I'm fine with getting rid of Bryson, we need to go a different direction. Krebs will get one more year to prove something, adams acquired him in the eichel trade, selling him off for peanuts isn't happening, unless we get a new gm, then it's a maybe.

Look, I get that you don't wanna pay too much for a goalie, nobody does, but the Sabres are pretty happy with upl, it would take a lot, undoubtedly more than you would offer.

Figure it out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Renegade_H</b></div><div>I see too many Buffalo proposals trying to trade Samuelsson which gives me red flag vibes.</div></div>
Kinda like mittelstadt, a combination of things made him available. Buffalo has 5 nhl left shot d- dahlin, Byram, power, Samuelsson, and Ryan johnson. Dahlin and power have been paid, Byram likely will get paid next. Samuelsson is making just under 5 long term. Not sure how much you wanna invest on defense. Samuelsson is defensive- minded and big, but not particularly physical (I don't care what the scouting report says), he uses his length to poke check as much as anything. The Sabres would be wise to round out their all left handed puck moving core, with a couple physical defensive guys, preferably right shot ones. Samuelsson looked really good covering for dahlin last year, this year was rougher. I can see moving him if it makes sense, there's plenty of gms that would take him. So to me, the fans are recognizing that maybe paying him 5 million long term isn't great, and they penalize him for having a down year and being hurt.
