Sens Deadline
- Too much for Tarasenko (1st + 4th would do)
- Not enough for Brannstrom. The guy continues to be heavily underrated. Best metrics on the Sens D last 2 seasons combined
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>stuuuuuuuuuuutzle</b></div><div>Trading Brännström for that return would be super regrettable. Not sure why we want to spend assets on Nick Bjugstad right now either.</div></div>
If all you can get for Brannstrom is a 5th, you keep him for sure. That would be moronic, particularly if they trade Chychrun

Trying to Make a Guentzel Trade based on the style of Elias Lindholm Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>stuuuuuuuuuuutzle</b></div><div>Lindholm is certainly not playing his best, so point still stands!</div></div>
Right. Guentzel is better anyways and you're right. Not saying to you specifically at all in fact just the opposite with your proposals but particularly I'm seeing Carolina fans saying things like "a rental is worth a 1st and b prospect" and that includes Guentzel. Well first 33 year old Tarasenko (100% no question asked a rental) is going to get a 1st and if you think the difference between Guentzel (even as a rental) and Tarasenko is a B prospect you're nuts. So not saying specifically to you just saying in general as ppl give their comps that you have to remember Guentzel is still in the prime of his prime right now as you consider a trade. I agree with your observations...

Blame it on the strep throat
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>stuuuuuuuuuuutzle</b></div><div>Yeah, that's the issue. Batherson seems clearly like the roster player Nashville would want. But this team has nothing on the wing if Norris can't be relied on, and Batherson's contract is amazing value. Tough situation.</div></div>
the contract is definitely valuable but we could almost use that value to cash in and get an upgrade at a major position of need imo

I'm sorry I really don't want to be rude but Islanders fans have just got to stop doing this. Pinto is not available for trade. and if he was available for trade, it would take a lot more than that to get him. just because he is from long island does not mean that the Senators are just going to give him away to you

Matheson and Armia out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>stuuuuuuuuuuutzle</b></div><div>Yeah, getting this return for Matheson, while taking on Suter, would be an absolute dream. But I don't really know, with Hanifin and Chychrun on the market too, how anyone would this for Matheson. Matheson can do some very good things, but he's a flawed player - the kind of player who gives back everything he gets you offensively with bad defending. He can run your PP but he spams shots in an era where teams have really moved away from running power plays through the point. He's more fine on the Habs because he's still doing things none of their other D can do (his relative xG numbers are fairly impressive), but for a team who already has weapons, he's an awkward fit. I would take Back and a 1st in a heartbeat for him (assuming no one else offers more)</div></div>
This is probably the most objective feedback I've seen an opposing fan give another team player. Well done.

ya 100% feel like a lot of his faults gets overlooked because habs are so starved for goals most nights that any production is celebrated. I think Matheson would be more attractive than Hanifin to teams lookng to set themselves up for multiple runs instead of just grabbing a rental. That being said i think its only wishful thinking, i dont think Matheson will be getting move any time soon unless theres an offer mtl cant turn down.

seriously if there was an offer on the table for a 1st and a 2nd with a prospect habs should jump all over it. Matheson is great offensively and logs a ton of minutes but he gets exposed routinely defensively, even more so then some of the younger dman currently up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>stuuuuuuuuuuutzle</b></div><div>The problem with Batherson is that he is worse even than some of the other Sens forwards defensively, and that he's not providing enough offense to compensate. You mention 21-22, and yeah between 2020 and 2022 his +- was a lot better...because he was actually finishing. Like that's one of the biggest differences, he's just not scoring. And that's why I joke about the weak backhanders into the side of the net; he's not providing enough offense to make up for it.
That being said, yeah DJ is obviously the issue. I don't think it's a coincidence so many of our top young forwards are mediocre or bad defensively. But I also would like someone to wake Batherson up, because watching him right now is actually difficult</div></div>

Vlasic Anderson Swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>stuuuuuuuuuuutzle</b></div><div>No, I'm just saying it's not like you can do a bunch of buyouts, it makes no sense to acquire a player just to buy him out if you're not gonna get assets for it. When you're buying someone out, it should be because of a contract you just can't get out of but need to, or for a player you received assets as a sweetener to acquire.</div></div>
I see, my bad, I assumed the asset we were getting in this scenario was less cap hit in 6 of the 8 year buyout but after checking the buyout calculator I saw that Vlasic's buyout is actually more expensive than Anderson's since he is 37 and the buyout is over 4 years not 8 and buying out Anderson actually costs less. For these reasons I removed the trade

Also, because some teams are probably still stupid enough to put him in that spot, he probably won't accept anything but a top six role.</div></div>
Yeah but there’s no space for him in the top 6 in Dallas. I mean with him on the team the 4th line looks like
Dadonov-Faksa-Smith and it’s pretty expensive. Overall I don’t think they need him they should be focusing on a real top 4 D man who can eat big time minutes

They’re .500 and there is 76 games left. I’m with Claude G. It’s not time to panic.
It’s simple in my opinion (which is worthless, but still):
Kubalik —-> who cares lol
Pinto in…
It’s a long season. It’ll be a roller coaster ride.

semi-serious posting from a tired sens fan
I understand the frustration but this is not a talent/players problem
I would change the GM and coaching staff wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy before I move any roster player (outside of Kubalik, which would allow to sign Pinto)
Put Batherson on a healthy team with healthy coaching/management and with good players and he would rack them up (assists)
To be fair, Norris has missed a lot of hockey since last year and Kubalik is a total misfit (that's on the GM)
Norris still has 3 goals in 3 games (all Batherson's primary assists)
