I'm curious what they do with the power play units. I think if Trocheck is not on either unit, he will be on the 1st PK unit with Motte. And then I would have Goodrow and Vesey. Kreids and Mika only on if they need a goal.

I know it’s not but he’s been a more productive player so far in his career and hasn’t publically asked for a trade so yeah something like kravtsov and a 2nd would probably work for Van

Rest of the regular season. Will be back for 1st round of playoffs. But his value is also in his aav being on LTIR, allowing the team to aquire more assets and be over the cap until playoffs when it doesn't matter anymore.

Excellent assessment, Tea…LaF out of top 6 won’t matter as long as he gets ice time…and the way Chytl looks like he’s breaking out, as long as Gallant does put that line out there 15 min/game or so- they should be able to develop a scoring 3rd line…,And as far as D, as long as the team recognizes- and works on- the deficiencies related to structure, they should be fine. At the moment, no moves are needed- all answers just might be in house!

Shakeup idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tea</b></div><div>I feel like Goodrow *could* be decent as the 3C, but definitely not an ideal option.
I do agree there is no reason to panic with Kreider. For now, I think he'll probably bounce back a bit, he's always had pretty solid underlying numbers, and he is a first line caliber player even when he isn't scoring 50 goals. The most likely scenario is he returns to being a ~30 goal, 50 point net front presence.
I think some of the regression at the start of this year could be attributed to players being more aware of his skill set (sort of like a sophomore slump) and the changes to the first line. Obviously, it'll take some time for him, Zib, and Kakko to work out their chemistry, but they have shown some signs that they can be a great line.
I certainly have more hope for this team than last year.. first line goodrow, second line hunt, that team was a mess, wasnt it?</div></div>
Can live with that assessment regarding Goodrow at 3C...But I just think putting Kreider and Krav out there with a grinder at C is not the best scenario. Not heavily vested here- if things were to go south where a shakeup were needed, then I guess why not try- in reality though, I don't think Goodrow is the best match for these guys- especially Krav.
If Kreider reverts back to 30/50...nothing really wrong with that as long as Zib and Kakko produce.
At this point I wouldn't point to regression- just that the PP (which started the year on fire) has been ice cold recently. Don't forget: a big portion of his 50 goal season was PP goals...he's had a few near misses, and that unit shouldn't stay cold for too long- so he will get some real good chances to regain that scoring touch.
Hope for this year: I look for them to build off last year. Even though they lost several guys who were key to their playoff run, I figured their success this year would be based on young players taking another step. So far it looks like that's happening with Kakko and LaF, and to a lesser extent with Miller. Any success they have this year in making the playoffs and going deep (or not doing one or either) will have to do with their young Dmen- Miller, Schneider, and Jones- stepping up. So far all 3 have had their struggles, but that's par for the course with young Dmen. Gallant has to keep the faith and allow them to work through their difficulties (really only pertains to Jones). Need these guys able to perform in order to take some work from Fox. We'll see- I'm optimistic! And one last thing: DO NOT MORTGAGE THE FUTURE FOR KANE!!

If VAN is serious about rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tea</b></div><div>Most Vancouver fans on this site are idiots.. I didn't mean to write Garland btw, he's definitely tradable. I was mostly thinking about the young core, Petey, Boeser, Hughes, and Demko, as well as Podkolzin. Trading any of those players would be pretty idiotic for Vancouver, a bit like the Red Wings trading Larkin, Raymond, Seider, or Edvinsson, or the Devils trading Hughes, Hischier, Holtz, or Nemec.
The thing about Vancouver is they obviously have Horvat, who I'd personally re-sign, and a bunch of pretty solid wingers they have the possiblity of trading. Guys like Garland and Pearson who could be very useful for revamping the defensecore. Honestly, if I was Allvin, I wouldn't tear down the core because it's very good, I'd just find a way of revamping the defense and bottom 6.</div></div>
Makes total sense. What I'd do (with my limited knowledge of Canucks)
Make unavailable: Demko, Hughes, Pettersson, Podkolzin
Move one of Boeser, Garland or Mikheyev if it fills a need (like a top-4 dman who fits timeline)
Move Horvat at deadline for best package of futures
Move Kuzmenko too (at his AAV, he likely gets worthwhile return)
Plan to move Pearson at 2024 deadline (Myers too maybe)
And I would wait until off-season to sign top-4 RHD (as opposed to trading for him now). Severson, Dumba, Mayfield, Zub, Jensen, etc
And I would try to pick up one of two underappreciated RHDs from other prospect pools (Kasper Puutio, Phil Kemp, Nick Perbix, Vincent Iorio, etc).
(Maybe I'm due for a Canucks ACGM)

I don't see why they would trade Pettersen, Hughes, or Demko. At this rate, they will have a chance at Bedard without any changes.
They should trade Garland and Horvat so that they can get two more 2023 1sts, and play Hoglander (they need to know if they should move on from him). Then perhaps the rebuild turns into a retool, and they are actually competing next year.

2025 Dynasty is here with some wishful thinking
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tea</b></div><div>yes, we should pass up on it. sure, he'd be nice, I think most teams could use Patrick kane, but it's a waste. we don't need a top 6 caliber player for one cup run, just to either play in the bottom 6, or force one of our other forwards to play in the bottom 6. that would be awful asset management. we'd be much better off keeping most of our assets, instead trading for a 3rd line caliber winger, and a reliable 3rd pairing dman to ensure we won't have to run with Hajek and Tinordi as our 3rd pair in case of injuries.
after all, you don't see tampa or colorado trading for 10M dollar star forwards, their trade deadline acquisitions are a lot more lowkey and focus on bringing in players for depth roles. you know, guys like Barclay Goodrow, Blake Coleman, and Nick Paul for Tampa, and players like Lekhonen and Manson for Colorado. Those are the kinds of additions that win cups.</div></div>
Sure is getting tiresome shooting down the logic behind going "All In" on Kane at TDL. Excellent points about TBL and Avs TDL pickups- two of the best run organizations in the league. Its mind boggling how so many on this site- and how many hockey insiders- think that NYR pursuit of Kane is such a good idea. Short sighted moves is why this team has 1 Cup over the past 80 years- and due to the random nature of the way things swing in the playoffs, one or two bounces the other way and they wouldn't even have the '94 Cup to speak of!

You're right it hurts losing two of the better wingers. But Wings likely aren't a playoff team this season anyways. Maybe some younger guys can fill the void and show growth.

I think Berggren is also hurt, scratched last night in GR. Huge bummer for the team, got a hot start going then lost 2 of the top 6 immediately.
Hopefully Bert's back on time. Vrana we can only hope he gets whatever help he needs.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when (if) Fabbri comes back. Does he replace Zadina? Walman returning from injury will make the third D pair better. But I still don't like playing Maatta in the top 4. I'd love to put a guy like Sanheim in there.
But Stevie is playing the long game and he's buying time for Edvinsson, Johansson, Wallinder and Viro. I get it. Suter will be traded whether it's soon or at the trade deadline. If Zadina starts slow and is choking sawdust on his stick (again), he could be moved too. I'm excited to see what Soderblom can do. 😁

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tea</b></div><div>If he does, it's a bonus, but I think we gotta be realistic. Found money usually doesn't amount to much, the best case scenario is often a Mikheyev. He might be excellent, in which case I'll welcome it, but for now I'm keeping my expectations down. In the case that he does work out as a top 6 option, I think trading someone like Garland to shore up the defense would be a good idea, in that case the lineup would look like this:
Miller - Petey - Boeser
Kuzmenko - Horvat - Podkolzin
Höglander - [3C] - Mikheyev
I think that's a pretty elite team, given Boeser bounces back and Höglander can break out a little. Either way there's a lot of options on wing, we currently have maybe 7 wingers with top 6 potential (Miller/Petey, Boeser, Garland, Podkolzin, Mikheyev, Kuzmenko, Höglander), so there's tons of possibilities, no matter what happens to Kuzmenko.</div></div>
You aren’t wrong on that though. But have a little faith in Kuzmenko. It is t very often Russias top players sign with Vancouver
