I believe 6M on Markstrom is better value than 4.5M on Koskinen. And Rittich is probably better than Forsberg at this point. So CGY certainly got better in net imo.
I don't think the contact is bad. Maybe 1 year too much but this guy is worth the money.

(NJD/CBJ) - 2021 5th round pick for Murray
Unlike most I don't see Hall going to CBJ. I'm sure they're planning something big with all this space, but plans might have a much harder time coming to fruition this year.

(NYR/CAR) - Skjei for a 2020 1st round pick
So Leafs basically stood pat, while the team with a stack of defensemen (despite the injuries) added more.
I'm confused.
Also, this is the same Carolina team that embarrassed us just the other night with solid defensive play and desire. And they're only getting stronger on D...
Their D core is ridiculous: Slavin, Pesce, Edmundson, van Riemsdyk, Gardiner, Skjei, Hamilton, Vatanen, Fleury.
On further thought about the Leafs, I'm kind of glad they didn't make big moves. These players shouldn't be let off the hook that easy.

I'm thinking this has something to do with the LTIR situation. Maybe we needed more salary on board to maintain a high cap total.

(OTT/EDM) - Ennis for 2021 5th round pick
Liked Enzo in TOR. He's a good 4th liner but needs some muscle on his line to thrive.
Woah he's scored 14 this year? Not playing like a 4th liner and could be a steal for EDM.

I'm happy to see some kind of shakeup, especially on the 4th line where it seemed like we were a bit lost.
Don't quite get this trade from FLA's perspective. Perhaps they see something more in Mason?

(TOR/LAK) - Moore, 2020 3rd round pick, Conditionial 2021 3rd round pick for Campbell, Clifford
I couldn't keep my stupid brain from thinking yesterday that I wished Ceci would've been hurt instead of Rielly or Barrie. What a dumb thing to say about a player from you own team.
And lo and behold, Ceci is "out for a while" after last night's game.
Sheesh... Why can't us fans just wish good things and good things only?
Anyhow, I'm happy with this trade. We needed both Campbell and Clifford and didn't give up a lot. Moore is a good player but you've got to lose something to gain something... So it works. And picks may or may not pan out so it's a bit of a wash (even if I'm unhappy about the possible 2nd rounder).
Now RHD, please Kyle!

(NJD/ARI) - Hall, Speers for Bahl, Merkley, Schnarr, 1sr round pick, conditional 3rd round pick
I don't think this was as lopsided as being declared. Didn't think ARI would get him, but it speaks to the character of the franchise which seems to want to be taken seriously. And I'm all for it! Smaller market teams need this to keep the NHL exciting. Plus, I was sick of seeing fans of other teams continually sh*t on the Yotes. Hopefully Hall makes them more competitive and they can go on a run.. Team needed a jolt of late. Plus, I hear guys wanna play for their coach, so that ought to help light a fire under Hall!

I believe you're under selling DeBrusk. He's a big game player and better than Coyle (imo, anyway)... He probably wouldn't take 5.5 unless he has a bad season + playoffs..

Tampa Bay Lightning signed Brayden Point (3 Years / $6,750,000 AAV)
So pissed off seeing this as a Leafs fan. I was relieved to hear Marner sign but seeing this, I don't see any love for Toronto or any sort of discount. Everyone says he took too much, by as much as 1.5mil per in excess. Even a 9mx6 deal compared to 6.75x3 for Point sounds bad when taking importance of position and term into account.
Thanks, Mitch. Thanks, Auston. Thanks, Kyle.
