No Really Its OK
I think you're close on the PLD and Gavrikov contracts but Anderson either holds out for a 3+ year deal north of $4m or just signs his QO and heads to UFA status next season. It would be a huge bet he's placing on himself after the lack of production while banged up this past season but I think it's a risk he (and maybe more importantly his agent) is willing to take.

True Out of the Box Clever Idea
I can't believe I read through all of that but a simpler explanation for why the league would likely void the trade and maybe even the contract might be...
You're trying to apply black and white rules to a league office that doesn't operate within black and white rules.

True Out of the Box Clever Idea

Jarmo might jump at that but Priest wouldn't. This isn't a franchise that has millions laying around to buy draft picks.

If there is a CBO question
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>you clearly don't know much about CBJ.
While this team wants to be competitive, they realize they have to build up like any small market team does. Draft well, be reasonable on the FA choices, and not pretend they have financial aspects like NY, MTL, TOR, or CHI.</div></div>
I was going to say the same thing. I just don't see Priest or McConnel Jr. being okay with spending money on a buyout to acquire a draft pick.

If the Leafs absolutely need to trade Nylander due to cap reasons it's probably not going to be for two guys that combined cap hit is likely to be more than his.

Josh Anderson is going to sign a 1 year deal for $350k less than his QO?

Bringing back an old friend
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluejackets2000</b></div><div>Johanssen was posturing for a huge contract and seemed like it would get contentious. Also the fact they were able to get Seth Jones in a 1 for 1 deal. Nuff said. Done deal. and Jackets probably even paid for the plane ticket out of town.</div></div>
At the time of the trade Jones wasn't even half the player he is today. He was a dman with a lot of potential but stuck behind a great blueline. Saying Cbus probably even paid for the plane ticket is a bit of revisionist history, nobody at the time said the trade was as lopsided as it has turned out to be.

I get what you're trying to say but nobody can be placed on LTIR until their team is up against the cap. I think Dubi getting medically cleared to play next season has to be one of Jarmo's worst nightmares and while he hasn't said much I don't get the sense Dubi is ready to step away from hockey.

Not Too Many Teams Can Afford Taylor Hall
Wouldn't Anderson just sign his QO for 1 year at $2.1m and go UFA after next season? I really don't know his value after the dud of an injury plagued season he just had but I can't see him taking a small pay cut to sign a 2 year contract.

sharks trade at the draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluejackets2000</b></div><div>Labanc’s numbers mirror Wennberg’s almost exactly the first 4 years...
Year 1 20 points both
Year 2 40 points both
Year 3 56 Lebanc / 59 Wennberg
Year 4 26 Lebanc / 35 Wennberg
Yet everyone on this site undervalues Wennberg in trade value, and everyone overvalues Lebanc.
Labanc is even having his drop off year this year (year 4), just like Wennberg.</div></div>
Wennberg has 3 more years after this one at $4.9m per year. Labanc is RFA after this season. That could have a<em> little </em>something to do with their perceived trade value.

Shrewd Jarmo TDL move Trade with SJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ajp_18</b></div><div>Well he’s still and RFA at seasons end, though he has arbitration rights they look at his whole season and career so there won’t be any holdout..... if things don’t work out for him in Columbus long term or if he wants out after next season he can easily be trade for lost draft picks. At the draft or close to the regular season start.
You make keeping him sound like a bad thing. It’s not like we would lose him for nothing at the end of the season. The worst thing that’ll happen is he signs and offersheet and we get picks for it or we match and keep him till the deadline and trade him to a team making a run at the cup for picks/prospects or a struggling NHL player.</div></div>
The worst thing that could happen is Jarmo lowballs Anderson so Anderson just signs his QO and walks after next season when he hits UFA. I don't think that will happen but my faith in Jarmo to sign guys to good long term contracts is almost gone.

They didn't have to take back $7.1m in the Trouba trade which is what you're proposing they take on in cap hit for Bjorkstrand and Murray. I don't see how you're proposal helps them out of their cap crunch.
