Ducks And Leafs Fans Would You Do This Deal
I probably wouldn’t
I’d want picks sooner (the 2nd) but I do like the 23 1st
Think we could get better if we trade them separately

Wont look exactly like this but if we can get Reimer and Middleton and get out of Mrazek **** it they can have a 1st and some other stuff lul

I highly, highly doubt this is what’s going on.
It’s far more likely that teams are scouting Dallas, given their uncertainty of making the playoffs.

Prospect not on the roster for lindholm. I don’t think it’s smart to trade the right shot guy that you have developed and can finally contribute to the nhl club. He will improve more and be cheap for another few seasons.

I’d scratch Simmonds with Oleksiak in the lineup.
Play Robertson or Steeves
Probably going to have to replace that 3rd with a 1st

A 2nd alone is more than enough to make you look ridiculous. You are talking about a guy who would be the 8th defenceman on all good teams.

BLOCKBUSTER
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tony135420</b></div><div>Although I do agree with DeHaan being worth a 3rd, I cannot see Flower getting a 1st or 2nd even at 50% retained and Hagel being worth a top prospect AND a 1st. At the end of the day, Hagel is a middle 6 forward. Period. He is underpaid for the next 2 years, yes, but not enough to garner a top prospect and a 1st. That is what Chi is asking, not what I believe they will get.</div></div>
Let's be clear, Chicago isn't shopping Hagel either. They've also received multiple offers of a 1st and good prospect in which they've said no. We can interpret the definition of good prospect all we want, but knowing that they aren't shopping Hagel and they've said no to a 1st and good prospect, simple logic would suggest it's going to take a high end prospect and 1st to get them motivate to sell an asset they aren't shopping. Now whether you think Hagel is worth that or not is irrelevant; it is what it is.
The question you should be asking yourself is; would you want a more talented version of Andrew Shaw at the age of 23 on a very good contract and RFA making cup runs over the next few years and if so, is that worth a late 1st (bag of magic beans) and Robertson?
Flowers is absolutely worth a 2nd at half retained; to suggest otherwise is just not credible. Look at the Lehner trade to Vegas as an example. Taking back cap dumps, likely moves the 2nd to a 1st and Mrazek is a cap dump and not just for a year either; doubt the Hawks would consider Flowers half retained in exchange for Mrazek and a late 1st.

I would prefer that the Leafs maintained a nut-job free zone.
Kane is a skilled player but, I don't want anything to do with the baggage that comes with him and I don't want it ANYWHERE near my team.

Hes found a home in TOR as the 2RD and played pretty steadily for 2 seasons, but I dont think that success carries over eleswhere. Hes a 2mil 2 yr RD at 28 yrs old, but fills a hole right now.

Everybody Hates Nickie
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tony135420</b></div><div>Mrazek signing was good at the time. Soupy has been lights out, but I doubt anyone had any sort of real confidence in him playing this way in the summer. Mrazek can always be traded for minimal return if need be in the off season. At the very least, he gives the Leafs solid goaltending depth in the playoffs.</div></div>
For a 1 maybe 2 year deal sure. But locking up any goalie this past summer to a 3 year deal made no sense till you knew what you had in Jack Campbell. Which as we have seen now, is a legit #1. So not only do you sign Mrazek to a 3 year deal at 3.8, you’ve set the bar for Jack but even worse gave him a NTC limiting your trade options. Agree to disagree but that was Dudas worst off season deal for me. Like the player but not for 3 more years

A Better Raymond and Marner Trade In My Opinion
A recent DET draft pick has 9 points in 9 games and they would be interested in trading him why...? ELC, will be an RFA, 19 years old, and showing a lot of potential.
DET just needs to keep doing what they're doing -- they have great prospects and they're developing them well. In 2 years, watch out.

Fire Dubas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tony135420</b></div><div>I mean the most of the issues they had in the playoffs and this year are on the core. AM and MM disappeared last year and the year prior when it counted most. Do I think they should be traded? Maybe Marner, but I doubt you get anything close to his value. Trading superstar players like Matthews will only hurt you.</div></div>
I'm constantly amazed that so many Leaf fans blame Mikheyev, Kerfoot, Engvall Holl and Dermot,,,,a 1.9m average for all the Leafs misfortunes. Leafs have really tied themselves to now five players making 48m so the team is so dependent on others playing above their contract.
I floated the idea of leaving Marner exposed by Leafs and have Seattle select him in the draft. Maybe just maybe the Leafs could have spent 11m better for the remaining four years of his contract.

Unfortunate
Nashville doesn’t need another overpaid player.
I’m not saying Marner is bad or he isn’t worth that money to Toronto. What I’m saying is if you put him with Johansen (our #1C) then the odds are very good he isn’t a point per game player. He needs to be close or more than a point per game to be worth it for us. Add in that the 1st is likely a lottery pick and the additional ~5M in contracts it’s a pass from us. I won’t say if the value is close but I will say the value isn’t what we need.

Not done
Devils say: add a prospect and we get third team to retain 25% more.
Something like:
TOR gives: Mike Koster, 2023 2nd (TOR)
TOR gets: Subban at $2.25 AAV (25%)
NJD gives: PK Subban at $4.5m (50%), 2023 4th (NJD)
NJD gets: Mike Koster, 2023 2nd (TOR)
Third team gives: retention on Subban (25%)
Third team gets: 2023 4th (NJD)

Merril and Gagner are worth no more than a fourth each. JB is worth a bit more than Freddie, that why you toss in Kokkanen (played well for Finland WJC). It would be more like SDA or Abramov or J.Anderson going to DET not Hallander.
