<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>I compared Knies to other players with long record because he did so with him. Just to prove his own logic is flawed
The fact he is having worst stats than Bunting while playing with those 2 superstars is why it’s held against him. It’s not normal to have a line like this :
60 goals scorer
100 pts winger
35 pts winger
Even if you putted Samsonov with Marner and Matthews, he would still have a decent amount of pts</div></div>
Maybe you don’t watch the Leafs much - no harm, I never watch teams unless / until they play the Leafs - but Knies has only played with Matthews & Marner for portion of games. He’s played on Domi & Tavares line as well. I get that you want to dump on Leafs - I’d be dumping on Habs if they were playoff team but - without speaking on behalf of Leafs Nation, Knies is legit. Size, speed, good shot, good hands, compete - he’s a keeper.

Minor nag, reportedly. Just more ghoulish behavior from Leafs fans fantasizing about gaining cap space from their own players being incapacitated for long periods.

The leafs currently have 2 key issues: Cap, and term. This trade addresses neither while downgrading the team considerably. There is 0 reason for the leafs to make this trade.

not saying the trade isnt of equal value, it just doesnt make sense for AZ to dump what is already here and that is a key piece moving forward. AZ has too many picks now so couple more aren't needed.

Simply put. Marner to Calgary is not at all realistic. He's a lot more similar to Gaudreau in playerstyle than he is to Huberdeau but he's still far to similar to Huberdeau to be paying that much for both to essentially not shoot the puck. Don't get me wrong, fantastic player bad fit

The deck chairs have wheels
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tony135420</b></div><div>What would be fair? Can’t think it’s anything high end.</div></div>
Well, fair and what CHI wants are two different things. CHI is really high on both Lafferty and Raddysh and still hoping they can become more. When you consider the cap hit, term, and upside of Raddysh, I think they will want a 2nd. Lafferty still has some upside to be explored and definitely has a nice contract too. I'm hoping Laff, Radds, and Dickinson all get increased roles to finish this season and into next season, and if they can excel in those larger roles, they could be worth more this summer or at next years deadline. At the very least, CHI still need bodies and we need to get to the cap floor, and they are two of only a handful of players we have under contract for next season, and are our best options for trade chips next year at this point in time. I think the focus for this deadline will be moving higher value players.
For those reasons, I think it is gonna take a bit of an overpay, especially for Raddysh. You might get away with Der and a 3rd for Laff. But I really don't think Der would be interesting to CHI. If you can't include higher picks, then I'd expect a better prospect than Der. Personally, I think swapping out Der with Minten or Moldenhauer would get it a lot closer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tony135420</b></div><div>In my mind, Lilly and Gio have been exceptional. I would also put Brodie and Sandin ahead of him this season. Sandin has been injured and has had his ups and downs same as Holl, but he is a much smarter player than Holl, makes better outlet passes and is younger with much more room to grow. I'm not saying Holl is useless, he just has some bad habits that I don't like. He makes poor decisions with the puck in the defensive and offensive zone regularly. At least once a game he makes soft clearing attempts resulting in give aways, pinches at the blue line to make a hit when he has no coverage behind him, gets lost in his d zone coverage leaving his man open. Again, he is a good bottom pairing option that can play up the lineup when needed, but shouldn't be relied upon for regular top 4 minutes, IMO. But you make it sound like he's been the pillar on defense all year. I disagree.
I think alot of the mistakes made by our defense in general are covered up by a strong defensive forward group, but that's another story. Bottom line, I doubt he is resigned this offseason and I for one am fine with it.</div></div>
I am not trying to make it sound like Holl has been Jesus but I am saying he is someone who get ripped apart by fans/media (like Gardiner) and all of a sudden get thrown into the 1rst pairing and excels at it. You are right about Lilly being amazing though (If I were to overhype a defensemen, it would be Lilly). He 100% shouldn't be relied upon for top 4 minutes but isn't awful at it if injuries come. He is a puck moving RHD and should have value so I hope he returns for at least 1 more season.
I feel that the team needed him and he stepped up big time with all the injuries to the D core and I am trying to credit him with that

I think in terms of value the flyers would want a 3rd or 4th and 5th back as well, in terms of management this probably doesn’t happen, not only is Laughton doing really well but he’s the only flyer with a letter right now

Moving on from Matthews
Matthews is going to resign this summer for 13.5 or a bit more. Nylander will resign as well and they'll have a really hard cap year in year 1 of those deals before seeing major savings on JT who'll resign for less than half to finish his career in TO. Marner will resign the summer after Matthews and Nylander.

Core 4 and bargain basement signings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tony135420</b></div><div>That may be so, but I don't think it'll be a high end prospect. To me Hollowell makes sense, as he will require waivers this year and has been really solid with the Marlies. He seems like a good candidate to get a shot with a rebuilding or team with a need for a bottom pairing defenseman. Mrazek had one bad year. I'm not saying it won't cost something to move him, but I don't think it's as significant as some on here are anticipating. But I guess we won't know until it happens :)</div></div>
Mrazek prior was playing behind the best defense in the league at the time so his numbers, decent as they were, were inflated. I think he's going to cost that late 2nd to move him given he passed through waivers, injury prone, remove that carolina defense and hasn't looked very good, is an overpaid backup.
Hollowell wouldn't have much interest from the Hawks as they have plenty of bottom 4 defensive young players/prospects.
