Some moves
Those trades don't help the Leafs this season and certainly gives away a lot futures. What is this obsession with Forsberg to the Leafs?

I could see it with that kind of retention if there are enough interested teams to drive up the price. Could be a conditional 2nd as opposed to a straight up 1st though.

Then he walks, better than wasting cap on Kerfoot to be play like Eakin and the countless other depth pickups the Sabres have had over the years that have done nothing

Sicko mode
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs101</b></div><div>I'm all in on this year's team. For the first time in awhile I'm confident in the competitiveness and the defence from both the forwards and defence, and the fact that we have two competent goalies is very promising as well. This would make that F core just ridiculously dangerous. Not that it isn't already. If it costs less and we can substitute Liljegren for another prospect, great, but I really like this team's chances.</div></div>
I have seen way too many times where big moves like this just don't pan out. It generally seems like the small moves are the ones that help good teams get over the top. Huge moves like this too often result in disappointment. Will Hall fit in with the big 4? Will he remain healthy? Does it lead to a cup? And if it doesn't now we watch Liljegren become a good NHLer for a rival.

Depth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tony135420</b></div><div>Nobody is contributing on the Canucks. Doesn’t mean they don’t have value. Gaudette and Virtanen are both very useful players. Kerfoot is good, however, seems miscast ok the 3rd line. 1st is going to be bottom 5, so I believe that’s in the realm of fair value.
Calling it the worst trade of the year is a bit dramatic.
Edit: NM I went through some of your previous posts and just realized you like to be negative. Hope you’re doing well.</div></div>
Edit. I went through this post, I thought it was a lot dramatic, and an awful trade for the Leafs.

Bennett
Vesey wouldnt clear waivers is my guess. Those lines are out of sorts in my opinion but maybe you weren't really caring about those. I just posted a Bennet trade to Leafs too, I agree it makes sense for Toronto but only if retention could be included and the idea would be for him to be the 4th line center and playoff performer they want. Bennet seems to want a bigger role though, so he could be a hold out. But then again if he performs, it might make Kerfoot trade bait for some much needed cap relief next season.

Who The Leafs Can Add
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>He's not a bust, Calgary considers this. Maybe a 4th instead of the 3rd</div></div>
whenever I hear the word bust I go okay is he older than 24 and not played in the NHL. Liligren is a late blooming guy but hes evolving his game from strictly offense to 2-way. Keefe gave him a shot last season (mainly due to all the injuries) and u could tell there were sparks but he in general did not look comfortable. That and a third pairing of 2 rookies really aint the best idea. I say let him be in the AHL one more year than in 2021-2022 pair him with muzzin so he can be eased in to the NHL.
In general I see our dcore being
Rielly-Brodie
Muzzin-Liligren (unless hes traded)
Sandin-Holl (Unless Seattle than whoever)
Liligren can play sheltered mins with Muzzin to start than gain more as he experiences more games

Tweak
Trading a young, promising center for the same in a winger is always a downgrade just because of the positions they play -- the team trading the winger would need to add. And at that point, it's not worth it for TOR.

Understood but Chicago is one of the top 3 most cash rich organizations, cap hit is much much more important and so are our current assets.
Chicago isn't entertaining this, we have ZERO need for Johnsson and is a cap dump as far as we are concerned as he would be lucky to get the 5th winger spot more likely 6th winger spot. We sure as hell aren't taking on a $5M cap hit for andersen either.

It is definitely debatable that this CBJ team is any better than what they have now, but to me the value on the Leafs trade seems fair.</div></div>
Kerfoot is a 3C on a contender. If he was a 2C, then the Avs would have had no need to trade for Kadri. Whether the value is fair or not is besides the point. The assets we're receiving don't align with our targets and organizational goals.

Kapanen and McCann are kinda similar actually. Tons of physical ability but they aren't quite living up to it. Same age and draft year and first round too. Similar offensive numbers this year. McCann was much better defensively and analytically though.</div></div>
Almost all NHL players struggle or have up & down yrs in NHL in their 21-23 yr old yrs (except those special few)
- And then break-out in their 23-24-25 yr old yrs, especially players picked after mid 1st Rd
And why I would not & we will regret trading McCann
