Riggs A New Beginning
That's a no for the Jackets; we paid that same price to pick up Olivier and he's been performing above expectations.

Yeah, I could see that working for the Jackets.
Not as sold on the Fabbro trade, tho, but that's mostly because I think Fabbro should be playing alongside Josi.

Pick is going the wrong way on the Armia trade. And you could take Askarov out of that Preds trade entirely and still be told "no".

Well, the Jarnkrok trade is at least plausible, so there's that. But omfg that Marner trade...

That Jackets package would not be accepted for Matthews@50%, let alone Marner straight up.

Okay, I can see the assets for taking on Jarry and Rakell's contracts, but where's the compensation for handing over Laine and Gaudreau with retention?

I mean, I guess the Jackets could go for that if the front office really wants a mulligan on the Severson contract. Dunno why the Leafs would do it tho.

Rehousing
Less than zero interest in Chabot at this juncture given his contract and given the guys already here, and Voronkov has been amazing for us. The number of people thinking this is a CBJ fleecing and/or a no-brainer just pretty heavily demonstrates how little folks actually pay attention to the Blue Jackets.

Obvious troll is obvious. Grossly overpay every RFA and then trade Boone retained for garbage? Try harder.

We'll do Boqvist for a 2nd, sure, no problem. But Danforth is someone we'd prefer to hold onto given the option and Juulsen isn't all that interesting.

Boone Jenner is not available even for a lotto pick, because what we need are leadership and glue guys like him if we're giving him up. We've already got plenty of quality prospects.

rebuild and cup push
This is now the fourth AGM in as many days this guy has posted that basically guts Columbus by ignoring the RFAs and signing a bunch of pointless UFAs and he has yet to respond to literally anything at all, let alone criticism of the rosters. Don't waste time with it.

Buffalo Sabres 2024-25 Playoff Roster
The rule of thumb for determining a viable Jenner proposal for Sabres fans is as follows:
Ask yourself "Would this package be acceptable for Alex Tuch?"
If NO: It is not acceptable for Jenner.
If YES: It might be acceptable for Jenner, but don't hold your breath.
The reasons why y'all wouldn't want to trade Tuch are largely the same reasons why we don't want to trade Jenner. And when I say "we", I include not just fellow Jackets fans, but also CBJ ownership, the CBJ front office, and Jenner himself - repeatedly, publicly, and explicitly.

How many teams are going to ever put him on the second line? Because that's what "middle six" means.

Hers was far, far more accurate than yours. Jarnkrok was never middle-6 even at his best and the term on his contract is equally dubious.
Source: I'm also a Preds fan who actually really really likes Jarnkrok and in the abstract wouldn't mind picking him up but we haven't got the roster space.

If The Leafs Lose to Boston
Retaining on Gudbranson does the Jackets no good because we'll have to pay a similar amount for his replacement and so the net cap savings is at best zero. And he's actually played well and been a useful locker room glue guy for us, so we're not in any rush to move him in the first place; indeed, finding another guy like that will likely push that into negative cap for the Jackets. No thanks.

Quoting: Caufield

Boqvist is the absolute definition of a third-pair guy (Harris also clears), plus Harris is not one of the more commonly used players in these trades. Plus we are comparing a 1st and a 2nd vs a 2nd and a 2nd, so IDK what you're on about.
And on top of all that, I think a lot of these Necas to MTL trades are a bit of an underpay from MTLs end as well

Boqvist is a #4D who gets bonus power play minutes. Actually looked really good alongside Werenski on the top pairing when he was healthy this year, but, well, sample size.
And I did a quick skim of MTL AGMs including trades for Necas and by far the most common assets included were the WPG 1st and one or both of Jordan Harris and Joel Armia, plus other small throw-ins.

Boqvist isn't a 3rd pair guy and Jordan Harris isn't a "decent prospect". And there's something to be said for a team trying to Win Now getting roster players instead of futures.

Heck of a price to pay for RFA rights (especially since it guarantees Philly gets our 2nd this year), but Necas is worth it.
