No chance they would give up Necas for that. They will keep him and move somebody else or get something much better back

Does it still count as cooking when I burn my toaster waffles in the morning?

I'd gladly ask Yzerman to beat that offer for Necas.

Heck of a price to pay for RFA rights (especially since it guarantees Philly gets our 2nd this year), but Necas is worth it.

So Canes fan cry when Habs fan offer 1st, 2nd, and decent prospect, but then trade away Necas for a 3rd pair guy and 2 2nds?

Boqvist isn't a 3rd pair guy and Jordan Harris isn't a "decent prospect". And there's something to be said for a team trying to Win Now getting roster players instead of futures.

Boqvist is the absolute definition of a third-pair guy (Harris also clears), plus Harris is not one of the more commonly used players in these trades. Plus we are comparing a 1st and a 2nd vs a 2nd and a 2nd, so IDK what you're on about.

And on top of all that, I think a lot of these Necas to MTL trades are a bit of an underpay from MTLs end as well

Boqvist is a #4D who gets bonus power play minutes. Actually looked really good alongside Werenski on the top pairing when he was healthy this year, but, well, sample size.

And I did a quick skim of MTL AGMs including trades for Necas and by far the most common assets included were the WPG 1st and one or both of Jordan Harris and Joel Armia, plus other small throw-ins.

He's lowkey regressed from last year though, don't think he's really getting enough production to be seen as a top 4 guy (I will admit, I didn't watch him much).

Even if he was it still doesn't change the fact that this is definitely not enough for Necas

What would be a hypothetical fair price for Necas? He definitely has skill and talent but has been inconsistent. The reason I wanted Boqvist is Burns’ contract ends at the end of 2024-2025 (and I have to imagine he retires at the end of it) and I think he could thrive as Slavin’s designated O-Dman project, like a hopefully better and more sustainable TDA.

You can probably get more for Necas

San Jose and Minnesota decline.
