Who Says No
I think it’s good value trade for Arizonas asking price but Rangers say no. They will have a cap issue next year and already have Miller who could possibly become Chychrun if he steps up his offense without giving up the picks

Sorry should’ve put a disclaimer on them. Those were just individual targets for each team so wasn’t expecting both guys. I’d be ok 1 for 1 for Veleno. Niederbach I’d probably want a little added to make the deal

We are not that desperate to get rid of Nemeth for that overpay. They’ll buy him out before giving up Berard

Was looking at prospect and second for Rakell, can do a better one then skinner like Robertson. Comtois for Kravtsov with both needing scenery change

Agree it’s just one. All we can afford and would need right now. For price and fit I like smith the best. He’s been rumored there for a bit. Might end up being best bang for our buck with Vegas cap situation

Obviously over the next 10 games they could be closer to a wild card spot or o further out which could determine if they are considering selling or not. But they are very notable UFA to add. The rest of the list makes sense and we need about 12-15 more games played to see where those teams are at.</div></div>
I do like the Big Pavelski for sure. I was leaning towards Dallas being a playoff team so that’s why I glossed over them. Giroux I wasn’t sure was worth the cost it might be for a division opponent to part with

I agree. I see him retiring there. He’s just the perfect guy for our second line and great playoff pedigree. Did not realize that on Edler. He was my preferred summer time Swedish target to play with Lundkvist instead of Nemeth

They’ve been a pleasant surprise so far but can’t see them sustaining all season. Guys I listed have too much value to let walk in the off-season. See them falling out of contention, resigning one of them and getting some good picks or prospects for the other two

Right now sitting as the number one team in the league. Our two weakest spots right now are RW and left side d man on the third pair. Goodrow doing an ok job last couple games but that line had its max production when Jesper Fast was the winger. Nemeth has not worked out at all on the left side third pair. D has looked considerably better with his absence last two games. A right d man is an option if Zach Jones stays in the lineup. Shutout of Tampa and holding the oilers to 1 goal. Could be a simple vet depth signing or trying to make a bigger splash. Very early to talk about and hope we don’t go too crazy trading picks or prospects

Thoughts
From a Rangers fan standpoint I think it’s an overpay too. The Panarin inflation is just a lazy argument though. He put up points on the third line after his trade, puts them up with Panarin and continued last year when he took the leave of absence. Not everyone can play with a player like Panarin and be successful as well. He’s been a great addition just won’t fit with future plans of team

I see Nashville wanting too much in order to retain enough salary for it to make sense.</div></div>
It is a really long deal to have to handle especially if he doesn’t turn it around. Nashville was ready to give him away for nothing at the expansion draft. My idea in the trade was to give two 2nds with him, send Strome to replace at center, let’s them take his cap back and then either resign him or flip him for close to what they gave up with duchene. Get hajek and Gauthier for the 5 year cap retention instead of 10 years of buyout cap hits if they went that route

I know it’s tough to trade into top 10 and agree there’s a pretty consensus top 9 in this draft. Figured SJ was at the end of that top 9 and only team there that could use some stocking for prospects. Still pull a good player and probably a goalie in Cossa with the 15/19. Thought all 3 firsts for the 7 was a little too much

Minny is not losing Dumba to Seattle. They’re going to ask Suter or Parise to waive NMC for expansion draft because they won’t be selected. Maybe even trade or buyout Parise if he’s not happy with his role. They’ll go 7-3-1 if Suter waives and 4-4-1 if Parise does. If they go 4-4-1 it’ll be either Soucey, Greenway or Talbot getting selected

Why does COL do that trade? Answer they wouldn’t.</div></div>
Strome has had better numbers then Kadri over the past three seasons. And it’s not just playing with Panarin, he did it on the third line when he arrived then kept scoring when Panarin was out. Robertson is better then Foudy and close to nhl ready. Going to need a big lefty d man after you lose Graves to Seattle. So we do get the higher pick back

Explaining every move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jimbo1119</b></div><div>Can’t see what the rush would be to buy him out before the exp draft….I’ve always been a supporter of the edge he brings to the lineup. But wIth the info available on him at the time he was traded to the Rangers and the recent events which include him challenging a fan to a fight through social media…he is a difficult guy to defend even though there is very little confirmed info out there as to what he did to get kicked off the team. At this point NYR would just do best by moving on….JG’s poor asset management killed any value they could have received for him…and the right side of their D seems to be loaded up anyway…and the distraction which would be generated around him would probably outweigh the positive contribution he could make in playing.</div></div>
Sounds like they may wait for the second window just in case they make a trade and need him to be compliant with expansion rules. I loved his edge too. Quinn mismanaged that whole thing from the start of the season. He took a stupid penalty for slamming the door but they had zero emotion that game and got ran over by the Isles in the season opener. Scratching him for two games was bull****. Quinn also didn’t give him much chance on the left side with Trouba. That’s where they need a vet this year. Faux outrage against him for his political views but that’s the world we live in. Hope he gets his career restarted somewhere else
