I'd assume that Byram is basically untouchable for Colorado since he's on his rookie contract for 2 years beyond this year. Having an impact player that cheap gives them a lot of extra cap space to work with and will help them remain cup contenders for years. Laine would obviously help them this year but they'd struggle to resign him since they already have to resign Landeskog and Makar. I'd say Colorado probably says no even though they seem to be getting better value.
