Anybody who wants Chiarot will pay a first, it’s been reported by every credible person in the business. If they aren’t the team that is willing to give it up then they won’t be the one getting him, but I think he’s a good match for them. You can pretty much substitute St, Louis for any other team interested: Calgary, Rangers, Toronto, Washington, Florida (will have to be prospects they don’t have a first).

The narrative that Chiarot is worth a first is crazy off. Same with Lehkonen

How much are you willing to bet? I’d put up a thousand right now that the return for Chiarot includes a first. Lehkonen, no. He will likely net a 2nd. Most people believe Habs will get a first, the people who don’t aren’t paying enough attention and that’s not an insult, just an observation. Go look at the past deadlines. Look at the deadline market for Dmen, it’s Chiarot and De Haan.. that’s pretty much it. Think about Chiarot’s value in the playoffs where less penalties are called, he gets away with murder and is downright dominate. There will be a bidding war between the teams I listed. What did Savard go for last deadline? Foligno? Coleman a couple years ago, Montour, Dzingle, Athanasiou etc. this isn’t a new thing. It’s every deadline.

Detroit doesn't need another RHD and I'm sorry but I can't see anyone giving up a 2nd for a 34yr old dman with a cap hit of $6.25M for the next 3 seasons.
