Maybe Schiefele needs a change, not sure why you think Barzal does. Schiefele is also the worst defensive forward in the NHL and he approaching 30, there's no reason for the isles to trade for and extend him.

Thing was he wasn’t until the last few years. Coaching, management, team. No one knows why he declined but there is no reason to believe that he could not rejuvenate at least a good portion of his defensive game. He really needs a good coach to put him in his place and bring back his love of the game, reminds me of O’Reilly a few years back.

Scheifele would be the worst fit for NYI system and Barzal is much younger. Don't see why NYI does it.
