Description
- Buying out Armia isn't because of money it's to open contract/roster slots and save 1/3 of his salary instead of having him take a spot in Laval.

- Please Monahan be healthy this year.

- Buying low and bringing home a local talent worked out for Matheson so why not try it on Joseph?

- Of course Pearson and Monahan's trades happen prior to the 2024 TDL.

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2025 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
With only 1 retention slot left I don't think we're using it on Monny. Pretty sure he re-signed here knowing he's getting sent out at TDL to a contender (Hopefully he gets a ring).

Conditions: The 2025 3rd round pick upgrades to a 2024 2nd round pick if Pittsburgh advances to the 2024 Eastern Conference Semi-Final.
PIT
  1. Monahan, Sean
Additional Details:
This year is the year where age catches up to Jeff Carter and he gets injured. Monahan would be a near perfect fit for 3C duties on a contending team.
Darkhorse trade partner, Boston Burins: I know it's dumb to think we'd trade with them but if we're looking at a playoff/bubble team that could be looking for center help they're a prime target.
2.
MTL
  1. 2024 4th round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Anything else than losing him through FA is a bonus just like the DeSmith trade.
BUF
  1. Pearson, Tanner ($1,450,000 retained)
Additional Details:
A bubble team could be interested in a depth guy with playoff/cup experience to help out the young guys?
3.
MTL
  1. Joseph, Mathieu
  2. 2024 1st round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
I'm ready to buy into Joseph following the latest report that it's likely to cost a 1st (Or 1st round value prospect) because of a lack of trading partners in the league -Reported by Di Marco-.

Conditions: -Montreal receives the later of Detroit or Ottawa's 2024 1st round picks. In the event where both picks are top 12 selections or that Detroit retain their 2024 pick and Ottawa's pick is inside the top 15, Ottawa has the option to send their 2025 1st round pick.

- If the 2025 pick is transfered, Montreal will receive the lower of Ottawa's 1st pick or Boston's unprotected 2025 1st or Detroit's 2025 1st.

- If Montreal receives a 2025 1st lower than 20th overall, Ottawa will also send their 2026 5th round selection.

-If pretzels are not available at the 2024 draft table in Nashville, Montreal receives Ottawa's 2025 7th round selection.
OTT
  1. Pezzetta, Michael
Additional Details:
Simoneau, Roy and Heineman are all candidates to come up in 2024 so Pezzetta being on a two year low money deal and UFA seems like an easy out guy. If Ottawa doesn't want him then future conisderations are on their way out of Montreal sadly.
4.
MTL
  1. 2026 4th round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
Anything man.
SEA
  1. Dvorak, Christian
Additional Details:
Seattle bad at faceoffs, pretty bad at faceoffs.

Ottawa isn’t doing that. They’ll move Kubalik or Brannstrom

If it costs a 1st, move someone else, seems pretty simple to me

THIS is this year Carter's age catches up with him? Did you watch any Pens games last year? LOLOL

Also, that Monahan thing makes zero sense. He's a UFA. The Pens can just sign him if they want him without giving up any assets.

Dorion can't be that dumb

It would basically be :

7th OA in 2022 + 39th OA in 2022 + 3rd (package to get DeBrincat) + Nick Paul (to get Joseph + 4th)

for

Kubalik (UFA-to-be) + Sebrango (not a lot of NHL potential) + 4th + 4th

I mean... come on, most Dorion trade trees are already horrible as it is
