It truly pains me to say this but I can now see how the Oilers' rollercoaster past decade has affected the hockey sanity of such wonderful fans. I don't blame you all in the least, I blame your team that has put you through this.
I truly appreciate your thoughtful assessment of my psychological well being and your kind attempt at therapy. If I am ever in Toronto or you're ever in Indianapolis, I hope I can return the favor.
Kadri is three years older than Nugent-Hopkins, the Oilers' third line center/top line winger/whatever they need. Kadri has 26 more goals. They each have 313 points in the regular season. Kadri has 50% more playoff points, though, giving him a total of six.
Strome has eight playoff points.
https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/stromry01.html He also got one fourth place vote for the Selke, a couple years ago. Kadri got three votes. On the other hand, when you compare the number of hockey journalists in Long Island vs. Toronto, it's pretty hard to say which is the bigger accomplishment.
Does Strome have any significant offense to his name in the regular season? Nah. But he's been a bottom six player and put up thirty or so points a year. That makes him a consistent two way kind of guy, especially at his price tag. Most teams wouldn't complain about that kind of a 3rd line center. And when you add in that he's four years younger and was drafted slightly higher overall than Kadri, yeah, he might still have untapped potential? At least Edmonton should hope so after whom they traded for him. More than that, if you compare Strome to Kadri up through Strome's current age of 24, they're about the same. Kadri topped out at 20 goals and 50 points. Strome at 17 and 50. Kadri at that age was a bunch of frustrated potential and trade rumors. I don't think Kadri's development is at all the argument you want to make to try to neg Edmonton into giving away Strome, and anyway, woudn't you be happier trying to understand what strengths and weaknesses Edmonton sees in their own roster, discussing what you see as areas for improvement in Toronto's, and looking for mutually beneficial solutions?

Meantime, call back when Kadri gets three more postseason points, or a playoff goal. That would put him head and shoulders above the other two, but totally stop trying to claim he's better than Draisatl or McDavid. No one is buying that, but it's also not nearly ridiculous enough to pass for humor.
I look forward to hearing you try to talk me out of Ovechkin later, when you read the words under my name, and notice I'm not an Oilers fan,
