Despite the fact they won’t have the money to pick up Patches and he wouldn’t be traded to a division rival... sabotage the team, with Tavares he scores 40 goals.

No, the Leafs aren't trading their 30 goal scorer with four years of term, for Montreal's 30 goal scorer (well not last year) with one year of term. Great for the Leafs Confused that Lindberg and Ennis are regular centres.

Eventually the Leaf as to make a move. They cannot keep Kadri as a Third Center for ever.

Edmonton is paying 12.5, 8.5 and 6 mill for their three centers. Toronto can easily keep Kadri with is STEAL of 4.5 over the next 3 or so years. Kadri will be a leaf forever. You dont trade shut down centers that put up 30 goals and are amazing on the power play.

No thanks. Habs will gladly take Kadri instead.

The you don't understand the Leafs. This numbering system that so many use is so meaningless. Don't know how Kadri is a third line centre when scores 31 goals, is the centre for 27 goal scorer Marleau, plays LW on the PP with Mattews and Nylander. Even if is a third line centre if it fits your description, 4.6m is a reasonable price. He probably gets almost as many minutes as Matthews and Tavares anyway. Why would the Leafs want to downgrade to another centre who plays 18 minutes a game?

They can do it until his contract expires. Then do it again until his next contract expires. And there is no 3rd line on the leafs. its 1A,1B,1C and 4th.

Regardless of rivals, no one on montreal will work on the leafs. We don't want to infect our roster with them.

This works only of the Habs are willing to re-sign Pacioretty for 4 years and then trade his contract at a 50% discount. It might still be worth it for the Habs. The Leafs, though, have far greater need of a RHD than a LW.

We sure can for at least the next 4 years where his steal of a contract is in effect. Come back to us in 2022.

I liked it until your second paragraph. Then you sounded like someone from Philly or Pittsburgh.

After seeing the Skinner move I agree. I would have taken Skinner over him though but really we dont need a single forward anymore. Maybe a flyer on a veteran winger |(like Nash but yes I know its unlikely). Depth on the right side d is needed if anything

The tone of the sentence is definitely my bias. But the habs do have a serious personnel issue that can only be fixed by extreme changes. Although no Hab fan or management can see it now. Who better to see it first than a life long Leaf fan that has been through it and in the same denial. lol.

I think Montreal's best approach is to start the rebuild now by trading Pacioretty, and the best places for him (for all concerned) are Anaheim, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, all of which would be happy to give Montreal high draft picks -- particularly Las Vegas, which can afford to overspend in that area (see Tatar, Tomas).
