As a Toronto fan.. Anaheim laughs and hangs, that is not a good offer for Montour. Ozhiganov and Borgman are going to get more money than that.

Kind of a real slap In the face that you didn’t even offer a 1st round.... not that it would be enough. Start with brown and carrick add a first then maybe another one and a better prospect. But they probably still say no. And really that is too much for us to give up too.

I'm actually leaning the other way. I'm not convinced by Montour yet. He had a good playoff run they say, but his defensive stats are not impressive. He probably wouldn't be in my top 30 RHDs the Leafs should try to acquire. So I view the offer as too generous.

I project Grundstrom will become a regular on the Leafs' lineup in the years to come. An ideal complement to the core, and great draft selection from the Leafs. I view him among the top prospect forwards we have. We'll need these young prospects at low cost, especially next season.

I think toronto fans worry too much about how their defense looks.
The pens won with Ron Hainsy as their top pairing guy. Hockey is an offensive sport. You have the fire power to out score every night, if you have a decent goalie you got a real chance.
It tells you more about what the fans really think of their goalie than anything else.
The talent is on the lines to hold the puck the majority of the game. If you don't trust your goalie for the remainder of it then you worry about your defense.
I would expect Toronto to hold puck possession for 60+% of their games. If they can't outscore people with this much talent on offense then frankly they don't deserve to win.

YEAH BUT!.... We... uhhh... You are a ... ummm.... Yeah... Yeah you right.

I love Freddie, I think he has real flashes of being not just one of the best, but the best goalie out there. But he is still lacking the consistency of goalies that have won the cup. If you look at the cup winners in the last few years you see Quick, Crawford, Fluery/Murray and Holtby. These are all top tier goal tenders. You have to sit down with Freddie and just say, you either want to be the best or you dont. He has the raw skills, I think its confidence and owning it. If you watch the Leafs play, if he lets a good goal in, he gets stronger as the game goes on. If he lets a bad goal in! Look out, because the wheels are coming off in a real bad way. IE. Game 7 against the Bruins.

Carrick makes 1.3m now, if he iis an NHLer he isn't going to take 800,000. Same with Ozhiganov. Without bonuses he could make 1.8m. As an NHLer he isn't taking a big pay cut.

Not sure what the original offer was or if this is it. If anything this is a fair deal. Just like like Bobby Ryan the ducks have made a competitive team every year by trading their mid 20s above average players for big futures packages that pan out. grundstrom is projected and already looks better than Johnsson who is penciled into the NHL already. Brown is a top 6-9 player on a Cup contending team at a good price and expiring RFA, a 1st, and another good pick. As a leafs fan I would add to this deal and look for another guy who is better and possibly younger
