Move Krug Sign Nylander

Created by: BruinsFan23
Team: 2018-19 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 3, 2018
Published: Oct. 3, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know teams never offer to RFA's but why not force the issue for Toronto. If they don't match, worth it. I think it also become a very fun team to watch while addressing RW#1 or RW#2. Also could be a very dynamic third line.

Trade Krug for a solid Goalie prospect, Rask is not getting younger. Krug's MTC is submit 8 teams cannot trade to, Isles might not be on it.

Future Cap, trade Krejci in 2019, NTC turns into MTC.

FYI... if you give 7x7M to Nylander... it will cost you=
    2x 1st, 1x2nd + 1x3rd.

They could do $7M x 5 and do the 1, 2, 3. I don't see Tor being able to match that with Matthews and Marner needing to be re-signed. They might be able to, but might be better to take the compensation and use the picks to try to shore up the D.

Who do the Bruins jettsion next year? Even if this scenario you gave, the Bruins are over the cap with bonuses. And next year McAvoy, Carlo, Donato need new contracts.

Next year will be McAvoy, Carlo, Donato and potentially Chara. As it stands, $13.8m in space. As I stated in the description; trade Krecji who will have a modified trade clause. Buyout if you have to ($4.67m in savings). Assuming a trade, that's $21m in space to resign that group. That is plenty for that group assuming the cap doesn't increase again next year. Bridge deals for Donato and Carlo will help as well.

    No thanks.

That isles deal is gross. With Swayman, Vladar, Keyser in the system all 21 and under there is no need to bring in another mediocre prospect. At least use Krug to recoup some of the draft picks lost.

    Still a bad idea though.

Also that is an offersheet that the leafs may match... if you are going to send a sheet you really need to overpay for the player. I would think 7.5m at minimum to get nylander.... now you are paying close to 1.5m more per season what he is actually worth. In cap era nhl this is just not a winning formula.

Could be really tough next season if Toronto decides to slide Mcavoy a 5 year 7m offersheet...

Even if the Leafs match the $7m the damage will have been done with $23m in cap space with a roster of 24 and many to resign including Marner & Matthews. Toronto is in no position to offer Mcavoy $7m. Let's say they do and Boston doesn't match, then they have 25 contracts, $16m in cap space and Marner & Matthews to resign while shipping out their !st, 2nd & 3d. Irrelevant since Mcavoy doesn't sign anything with Toronto without talking to Boston who has more $$ and the option for 8 years. Boston happily matches $7m over 5 years as it is.

RFA offers do not happen in the NHL making this less realistic and more interesting to think of. Make no mistake, Toronto is in no position to be sending out RFA offers and loses those battles with each and every team in the league in the near future.

Your math is out to lunch a bit there, if you take nylander we have 34m to sign rfa’s. Then maybe we send an offersheet in. If we match we have 27m to sign rfa’s and would certainly not be in a position to send out any sheets.
If Boston were to sign nylander to 7m we would certainly have more space than the bruins. I think you forget that you have 7 spots to fill next year with roughly 16m in cap space. 6 roster sopots with 9m.... very tight...

I agree with you though, offersheets just don’t happen because of what you end up with, an overpaid player.
