Pesce/Zykov is about max. Personally i don’t think the Canes should trade Pesce.

Leafs don't have to trade Nylander and if they do the Canes will have to overpay. I still don't get how people over-value Pesce like he is Drew Doughty or something. Teams like the Canes, Wild or Blues will come calling with offers if Nylander is indeed on the market.

I tend to agree with you on this. Nylander doesn't need to go anywhere, and I see him sitting for a year before Dubas ships him out for just Pecse. If the canes are "all in" on Nylander they'll need to put together a compelling offer for Dubas to agree to a trade.

It may be "Hall-Larsson fair", but it won't be fair in the eyes of people who matter to conclude such a trade.

Rank the RD. He comes in late 20’s early 30’s. Bordering 1st pair. Easily 1st pair on Leafs. Contract makes him even more valuable. Nylsnder is not a PPG fw. Not getting a return like he is.

If I'm going to trade Nylander to the Canes they better blow my socks off. Pesce ++. Pesce is not Trouba, Dumba or Parayko, who I think the Leafs truly covet. Yeah you are right nobody needs to trade anything, yet from the Canes camp they really seem to want a player like Nylander. Hell, I don't blame them.

He isn’t those 3. But it would be mistake to trade for Trouba, he does not want to play in Canada and won’t sign long term. Paryko won’t be traded. Minny would rather trade Spurgeon like Canes would rather trade Faulk. Have not heard anything out of Minny about making Dumba available for Willy. Straight up would be fair. But they have cap issues too.

Canes do want Willy, would be a good fit. I personally would not trade Pesce contract for financial reasons. Would offer Leafs Faulk/Gauthier/2nd and if it wasn’t enough i’d walk away. If canes do it Pesce/Zykov for Willy is fair value. If they go above and beyond...then Wadell should get his resume ready.

If I were Dubas I would say no thx. I would ask him about TVR as a depth Right handed D-man approaching the trade deadline and wish him well.

And if i’m Canes GM i say, ok no hard feelings, maybe next time. And then i go get a goalie.

I'm a Toronto fan, and no one can accuse me of being a Carolina fanatic, but Nylander, Johnsson and Brown might not get you Pesce and Ferland; there's no way it would bring Pesce and Teravainen, and in fact I wouldn't expect Carolina to trade Pesce and Teravainen in the same deal unless it was for Auston Matthews.

Pesce, Foegele (or some other A-level LW prospect) and one of their two seconds feels about right to me.

I actually read a blog with almost this exact same trade. This issue is with nylander Carolina will not be able to afford an arbitration available TT into their internal cap, this is why the leafs are adding. This is an actual trade being discussed before you start flinging accusations. I’ve read a few columns from insiders reporting that pesce and TT may be on the table with nylander johnsson going back the other way. I have actually read this so many times that I was in the middle of doing an agm to see how this fits the leafs.

Sorry I made that confusing, I was actually talking about the trade posted here. I always thought that zykov or foegele would be a decent add on with pesce but apparently dubas turning trades down and his willingness to let nylander sit has drove up some bargains.

Yeah, I don't know . But I dont see Dubas being interested trading Nylander at all really. As an RFA Nylanders only leverage is to sit, and I think he'll end up doing just that unless a package is offered that really blows Dubas's hair and glasses back. If a team really wants Nylander, it'll take an overpay to get him.
