Q OUT

Created by: exo2769
Team: 2018-19 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 6, 2018
Published: Nov. 6, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don't think he was the problem, but Rocky is cheap and Q cost a lot of money.
Just saw that it's a full sweep coaching fire. My guess is that Q stood up for his assistant coaches despite the PP and Defensive issues...so Q forced their hand. Rocky stepped in and made a full sweep.

He's definitely out of Melnyk's price range, but man he's be a good fit in Ottawa.

Congrats to LA I suppose

I need to do a little more research on coaching contracts... It's definitely something I don't regularly track, but Bowman might actually try to trade Q like Torts was. CHI (I'm guessing) still has to pay Q his money....so I don't know if he can go to another team. Again...I don't regularly track coaching contracts.

Torts wasn't so much traded as he was offer sheeted. Also you can't do that anymore? I don't think anyway

Bet LA is regretting chosing their coach already lol. I guess he is interim but they probs can't just go out and hire q yet right?

I know the Q firing probably wasn’t the best idea, but is anyone else excited for the new line combos Colliton will use?

I wouldn't mind bring Q back to St. Louis. Although to be honest, i'd rather bring Doug Weight in if he's available

I'm not sure Q left them an option. Dineen was probably the start of the conversation and then Ulf was brought in after...Q wasn't having it... Rocky made the full sweep. I'm excited for change. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome. The Power Play first comes to mind....

I really hope they just load up the first unit and play them 1:30 to 2:00.

As painful as it is, this was the right decision for the Hawks. Whatever he's telling them isn't working anymore. If you've watched a game over the last year, this is obvious. A breath of fresh air will be nice and Colliton has a good reputation, both here and in Europe.

I like the move. Q was long in the tooth and the team has been looking lifeless for 2 seasons.

Well considering Q is under contract for 2 more years he can just sit on the beach drinking from his lifetime supply of booze from Binny's, so I doubt that was really the motivator here.

I will say, Bowman should've went first. He hasn't given Q the horses the past few seasons. Taking STL 7 with Gustafsson in the top 4 back in 2016 was a pretty ridiculous accomplishment looking back at it. His time was coming sooner rather than later, but I go back to the same thing every time; Why are we stockpiling Defensive prospects? 6 defensemen fill a line up and we draft 2 in round one? What are they thinking? There's a surplus of defensive prospects in the system, and instead of getting valuable, NHL pieces to win now while Toews and Kane are in their prime, they fire Q? Something doesn't add up.

I understand where you're coming from. The counter to that discussion is...How many of the D Prospects are actually playing today and do you think ALL of them are NHL studs? Boqvist hasn't played in the last 4 games due to "Non-Concussion" symptoms. Whatever that means. Beaudin is out for a few more weeks with a wrist injury. Chad Krys Just got back like 4 days ago and has played in 3 BU games so far. To Me At Least. It's not all that realistic to expect all of them to be NHL studs. Injuries...Not panning out...these things happen. D prospects also take more time to develop. If Bowman goes Heavy offense in the next draft...I think it's a signal that he started his version of rebuilding last year when he was able to get a 1st rounder and prospect for Ryan Hartman.

Fair argument, but those three players you mentioned got picked in the first two rounds. So it's not crazy to assume they can make the team. If some might bust, why not move a couple now and try to get max value for them? Instead of having another Ville Pokka situation.

I 110% agree. To me the biggest worry is not being able to sign Chad Krys. A current junior expecting to sign on a team that already has a bunch of D prospects??? Hmmm....He might just say I'll go 1 more year @ BU and decide myself. I'd trade him to where he's from...New York...Area...

Exactly, Bowman needs to be more active and starting there is as good a spot as you can start at.
