And compensation is averaged from the total value as a 5 year AAV, so it would be 9M x 7y= 63,000,000/5=12,600,000 and would mean 4 firsts. Goodbye.

Even if Marner wasn't offered quite 9m from the Leafs, I'm sure Marner would stay a Leaf instead of taking a few more dollars from Habs. There is this misconception that players have to sign offer sheets.
Let's learn the compensation rules. Why would the Ducks want dead money in Alzner?

If Anaheim didn't take Alzner for free when he was on waivers, why would they trade a decent prospect and two picks for him?

Um. I think ya got the wrong team AND compensation for Marner.... Alzner trade is big trash, you are just barely under the cap and u overpayed for Girardi

In order to get quality, you have to give quality. Sometimes (Karlsson to SJS) quantity has its own quality, or perceived need inflates quality (Hall/Larsson) but those are rare. Very rate. I can't see any of this ever happening, sorry.
