Pettersson straight up makes the most sense for the pick

Depends on how high the VAN pick is. If it is TOP5 pick, then I'd say it's close to fair, maybe needs to add something.

Actually this trade is considerable imo. Colorado moves down a couple of spots and gets a #2c who's already producing in the NHL. They also will have their 1st, and 2 1sts in 2020. If you really want to sweeten it, drop DiPietro, and add one of those winger prospects. But it's not a terrible idea. Colorado ends up with 2 solid lines signed for a while (with cap room to sign Rantanen) and a ton of elcs to round out the depth for the next couple of years

Let's not add comments like 'it will take pettersson' because that's a non starter. I'd be interested in what other teams would offer or what needs to be added or changed in my offer barring Pettersson

If I were Sakic, I'd still consider it. Definitely need to swap DiPietro with like Dahlen Jasek or Lind

If it's 10th overall, I'd think Horvat, Juolevi, Demko and two firsts should do the trick.

Yeah but we know it really doesn't work like that. If another team has Jack Hughes and Van wants him they will end up paying through the nose for him. They would only be trading him by request not because they have to and if he doesn't get traded that team still has one of the 2 best players in the draft this year.

I wouldnt do it based on the fact that Horvat is a future captain, and with DiPietro being in the NHL in about 3 years, our Demko-DiPietro duo would be one of the best in the league. Giving up 2 1st isnt ideal. Jack Hughes is great, but IMO, hes not a generational player like McDavid or Crosby. He is goddamn good tho, but i wouldnt give up a captain material, a top notch goaltender prospect, and 2 first rounders which we could end up drafting some great players

If I'm Colorado I decline pretty easily.
There are huge talent drop offs between the top 2-3 picks and whats under them. Even in this draft which is deep.
Hughes is a potential generational talent. Like McDavid or Matthews level. I don't think you give that up for anything short of that.
If Colorado were to shop that pick the team I would look to is Edmonton. I would swap McDavid for the 1 over all and maybe 2 more 1sts. I think that's a fair trade. You trade one generational talent for another. Colorado gets to be in win now mode. McDavid gets a chance to get a cup on a team that isn't run by an idiot. Edmonton gets a chance to start over with a generational talent and can fire their GM before he screws it up a second time.

Do as you wish. It was hypothetical anyway. I'd still think that's how much it'll cost to get from 10th overall to Hughes. We're not speaking just of a franchise player - we are speaking of probably the most hyped prospect since Connor McF**kingDavid.

Ok so a bunch of spare parts makes more sense? Stop being biased and closed minded on a hypothetical trade

Garbage doesn't net you the #1 overall pick, Start with either Pettersson or Boeser if you want a shot at Jack Hughes.

I don't think Horvat is a guy that "moves the needle" in terms of acquiring a #1 pick. He's more of a top 6 role player than true superstar and the #1 overall pick is being hyped as a generational talent. You're basically talking about a guy who's likely to score over a ppg in a season and probably over 100 points and you're trying to trade Horvat for him. Horvat being the guy who hasn't even had a 60 point season thus far. This year is the first season he's likely to hit 60 points and its primarily because he's playing with a player better than he (Boeser). I mean honestly Horvat wouldn't even be an All Star player if there wasn't a representative taken from every team and Vancouver having no-one good at the time and imo he was clearly the worst on the Pacific's roster.

If Pettersson isn't available it would take Boeser +++. They wouldn't think of trading a generational player for Boeser + spare parts lol.

Pettersson is better than Jack Hughes. Plus he's proven, Jack Hughes may not be a center at the NHL level so it's not worth it. Pettersson looks like he'll be a franchise center while Hughes will be a franchise winger. Centers more valuable than a winger

It may be ok I'm just not willing to get rid of all our assets for Hughes. I still question whether he'll be a center at the NHL level I think he'll be a winger much like Patrick Kane. But canucks giving Horvat and Demko kinda ruins what they have long term.

Boeser wouldn't be available either from a canucks perspective.

Delusional

All of u know nothing about prospects if u had the knowledge youd see that Jack Hughes isn't as good as hyped and he'll probably be a winger at the NHL level. He's elite don't get me wrong but I see him as a patty Kane type
