Hello McDavid

Created by: Kongol
Team: 2018-19 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 16, 2019
Published: Feb. 16, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is purely for fun.
Do you think it would be enough? If not, what else could be added?

From the Oilers perspective, they get a solid Center back, and sharp shooter Winger, a puck moving Defencemen in Gardiner (Who would resign), a defensive prospect in Rosen (Who could be NHL ready next season) and a high potential still young goalie in Sparks who would take on the role as Back Up.

The Leafs pick up a proven point getter and arguably the best player in the game, free up some room for the young guys to transition in, and I am thinking it should make signing players next season a little easier.

Plus Oilers loose Lucic contract in full and the Leafs pick up some grit. I'd be hoping Lucic would play like his former self.in Boston again.

Opinions?

Any McDavid deal starts with:

"He's not available. Bye!"

If the Oilers don't start winning next season, I can see McDavid asking for a trade out.

Has any big star player in the modern history of hockey ever asked for a trade out of town? Not one single time. This isn't basketball. McDavid will honor his contract and leave in free agency if anything. Not to mention that trading McDavid is impossible. What team would be willing to give EDM what he's worth? No one. He's untradeable.

More like Matthews and Kapanen for McDavid. Your suggestion makes trading McDavid impossible, the price is counter productive.

Chris Pronger after the playoffs in 2006. And he was traded to Anaheim.

Bravo. You found one, even though I wouldn't call Pronger a superstar player of likes of Crosby, Ovechkin, McDavid though. I'll argue that Pronger also didn't want to be there in the first place too. He was traded to Edm. Not drafted by them.

Doesn't matter if Pronger was traded or drafted. He asked to be traded due to him cheating on his wife with a reporter.

Also how about Paul Coffey? He wanted out of Edmonton and got traded to Pittsburgh.

By the way, Pronger was the 2nd best defenseman Esmonton ever had just behind Coffey.

After reading all of the input here, I have decided that:

1) McDavid's back will be too bad for him to play by time he is 28 from carrying the team.

2) To avoid this scenario he will request a trade out of Alberta.

3) I was very close with my trades. Perhaps a small tweak or two.

4) This has been a very good educational discussion.
