Quoting: nashless
Boys, don't get ur panties in a bunch. Just trying to add depth up front for an obviously tired and hungover team. Gotta do something while the window is open. Two Fs and two late picks for three young players that may not even be in long term plans, while not giving up picks. Bura is Bura, Hobbs will max out as 6/7d? Chances are if/when Lucas makes it, it won't be as a top 4? ??
Hobbs led Hershey's defensemen in points halfway through the year, then got hurt.
Lucas Johansen reportedly looks NHL ready each year in training camp. He's got plenty of skill and there's no reason he shouldn't eventually make an impact.
If the league ever starts suspending people for stick fouls that break bones, Burakovsky will play 80 games a year, and score 50 points a year. He recently put up 7 even strength points in nine games, starting at 4R and earning his old spot back at 3L next to Eller.
Nyquist staying in Washington means no raise for Vrana, so Nyquist definitely walks as a UFA.
You're renting a 30 year old perennial 40 point guy having a big year thanks to linemates. You get him for a couple months at the cost of a future perennial 40 point guy who's 24, and whom either of these teams can easily re-sign this summer, for two years at 3.3M aav, if they have his RFA rights.
Nyquist is on pace for the biggest year of his career, at thirty... in a contract year... Burakovsky is 8th in his draft class in career goals, just ahead of Anthony Mantha and Max Domi.
Last year Nyqist played the whole season with Zetterberg and got 40 points. Z was still pretty decent, last year.
This year most of his points seem to involve Dylan Larkin, with a lot of them also featuring Mantha, and a couple assists to Vanek or Abdelkader.

Moving him to Washington where he might not get as many minutes and might not necessarily get a top six spot.... he might slow down to a 40 point pace, or less. If he plays with Backstrom, maybe he stays on a sixty point pace, but then Oshie plays with Connolly and Eller, and I don't think that line is as productive as Burakovsky, Eller, Connolly.
So you haven't added significant offense to this year's Caps, and you've given up 40 points next year, plus two top defensive prospects.
