On an related note, Canes are sneaking into the playoff hunt, they have the most cap space, the most contract space, and a myriad of picks and prospects in their system - should they try to get a big piece? If not now, what are they waiting for?

Do they think they can beat Tampa/Colombus with one big move? Or do they stay patient, get playoff exp and reallu go all in next year.

Yes, the trade is basically Pu for Jurco. However, Jurco is on an AHL only deal, so they have to make two trades for future conditions.

Florida gets a contract spot. 6 Points in 44 Games. He shouldn't even be playing in the AHL

Jeff Skinner traded for a 2nd, 3rd, and a 6th. It probably should have been a 5th in this deal, but I'm not a General Manager.

Never mind, Jurco isn't being posted because he's not under contract in the NHL.

Yeah and considering what Duchene and Stone just went for that seems like a fleecing by the Sabres. The Rangers got a better return for Hayes, the Senators got a better return for Dzingel.

It usually manifests itself as a strange condition that will probably never be fulfilled, The CBA does not allow you to trade players for nothing, so this is the GM's way around that.
